I was trying to play some N64 games on Nintendo Switch Online with the Pro controller, and I found it very confusing and decided to get Nintendo's N64 Switch controller. What a mistake that was. Although no longer confusing it is an ergonomic nightmare. I read some reviews and decided on this controller. What a relief, it is very comfortable to hold. Pros: Button colors and button layout match the original N64 controller, but the joystick has been positioned for ease of use and the Z trigger has been moved to below the both R and L triggers. It paired with my Switch immediately. No wires. So much more comfortable to hold than the N64 controller, actually designed for a human. Cons: I'm finding the joystick a little unresponsive when trying to do fine small movements, but not to the extent that it ruins gameplay, but can be annoying at times. I have not tried playing the N64 games with the Joycons, so can't compare it to those. But if you are finding that using the Pro controller is confusing or if you are trying to use an N64 style controller and find it difficult to hold for any length of time, I can recommend this controller. ... show more

    • Great way to have the N64 experience on switch
Not exactly the same as a N64 controller layout but does the job of allowing play of N64 games on the switch. I couldn't figure out how to do it well with the joycons or my other PlayStation style controller that I use. Seems to be of sturdy construction.

Works great complicated to get connected but once it's hooked up it works great can do n64 and switch games with a press of a square button wish they was a little cheaper

    • This was a great alternative to waiting for Nintendo to restock their N64 Switch Controller...
Nintendo.com is always out of this controller despite having N64 games on the Switch Online. The default Switch controllers, and even the Switch Pro Pad are practically useless for these games. And even when Nintendo gets the N64 controllers, they're like in stock for twenty minutes every five months before they run out. This controller actually works, and you don't have to wait for Nintendo to get their controller in stock only to miss the window of availability. ... show more

    • Finally, a comfortable N64 controller
I bought this specifically to play N64 titles using the Switch Online emulator. I have a Pro controller and the mappings for the buttons just didn't feel right (especially for Zelda Ocarina of Time). I generally don't trust third parties but with the official N64 Switch controller getting scalped for ridiculous prices, I did some research. This one was well received, and for good reason. Excellent build quality, comfortable layout that is *just* close enough to the three-prong feel that my muscle memory doesn't go crazy. The buttons are big, which is good for adult hands. Good battery life, and it's USBC so I can charge it with the same cord as my Pro Controller. I got the classic color scheme. Couldn't be happier. ... show more

The original n64 form factor is terrible so I sold it and go this. The ergonomics of a modern controller are great. The only bad thing about this controller is the joystick. It’s bad. It has a smooth rounded top with a slick rubberized coating. I’m not sure what they were thinking here. It needs to be a different shape and texture for grip. ... show more

    • Exactly what I needed for N64 games
My favorite N64 games are practically unplayable on NSO with the Switch Pro controller, so I picked up the N64 controller from a reseller. I remember using that controller as a teenager... and the nostalgia was nice, but holy smokes, the ergonomics were just as terrible as I remember, and it's practically unusable with my full adult size hands. This thing is a godsend. All the ergonomics of a modern controller, with exactly the buttons you need for N64. Works exactly as advertised, no issues whatsoever (so far). ... show more

Connected to the switch easily and the button layout makes playing N64 games on the switch easier. Depending on how you turn the controller on it will map the buttons either N64 or pro controller which can be a bit of a pain but good otherwise
