I haven't had a CB radio in many years and the last one I had was bulky, and had to be hard wired in to my pickup. I'm sure those styles are still out there, but this unit is great. It plugs into the standard 12 v outlet that most cars on the road have, and I also have a socket for it in my generator should I need it. The unit itself is very compact and customizable and gives the ability to change the backlight colors and brightness. The antenna that comes with it has a magnetic mount and has a nice height to it. In a matter of a less than a minute, I can plug this in, stick the antenna on and be powered up. I live in a fairly dense suburban area and picking up signals and conversations is easy and they come in clear and my transmissions are all clear in testing this out. I live in a relatively flat city so my range is surprisingly good, but as with anything it will decrease with mountains, forests or obstacles. I decided to get this new CB radio to take with us on our frequent road trips. Years ago I used to be an overall truck driver and I had a CB radio similar to this one but this one, but this seems to be way better. It comes in very handy when we’re traveling. Being able to listen to the truckers talk about traffic jams and accidents has really been a huge help when we’re on the road. The set up was very easy. I like that it’s smaller than some of the CB radios that I used to have. It fits perfectly under my dash board in my SUV. The magnetic base that came with it for the antenna is very strong and has no problem staying attached to the roof of my truck. Overall I think this is a pretty decent CB radio. This little CB radio has everything. The magnetic antenna has a strong magnetic base, and a center-loaded whip antenna tuned just for the radio. I had no problem picking up truckers on the interstate 10 miles from where I live. It's amazing how small this radio is. I was able to fit it right into my center console with plenty of room to spare. It comes with a mic clip and a nice long power cord.
