I like how the controls are classic and standard, allowing simple operation, while advanced features and parameters are a click away with the channel knob. I am a weather radio person, and could not resist this old school/new school hybrid from President. Like all President WX radios, weather is clear and intelligible. The large-for-radio-size speaker provides unusually good audio for a CB radio. Scan feature is uncommon at this price point, as is the ability to change channels with the mic. President is known for sensitive receive, and lucky, their industry-leading Automatic Squelch Control cleans out a lot of static and skip, during noisy times. I still marvel at that advance no other maker has approached. Some people criticize the mini microphone, but I get good reports with it. The radio is semi-compact, and the mic looks right with it. Mic elements are about the size of a kidney bean, so it makes sense to remove bulk. I am excited to try President's new Digimic, with digital noise reduction, another breakthrough the companies living off their names will never match. Despite being slimmer and sleeker than a traditional CB radio, the controls are not crowded. Transmit range is typical for a 4 watt radio, although it has unusually good ears. The tallest antenna you can manage, along with low SWR, is what will get you out. Speaking of SWR, this radio features the handiest and most innovative SWR reading available. Unlike some companies, President actually employs engineers to design circuits and radios. Other companies release contracts to the lowest bidder. You can be certain big radio brands are having their contractors copy this design, as we speak. The analog S/RF meter is beautiful, and among the easiest ever, to read. If this radio has a shortcoming, it is the inability to dim the meter for night driving. My dash lights don't get very dim, anyway, so that is not a big issue. My first President radio. Also my first FM capable CB. I'm a happy customer. It replaced another radio, so installation was as easy as switching the mount, the other radio mount was 3/4" too narrow, then everything else was connected as quick as I could tighten the antenna, attach the anderson electric connectors, and attach the radio to the correct mount with the nice large finger knobs included with this radio. Made a few choices in the menu options, roger beep, cyan color, verified the SWR, turned down the dimmer to please my eyes, and I'm up and running. I've got the McKinley II, AM/FM SSB on my wish list. One will be my base set, the other will go in my truck. President electronics has a great reputation, and they did not dissapoint. ... show more

I love the fact it has weather band however the mic is too small keeps falling from my hands. I cannot pick up the mic without changing channels. I have to get my unit adjusted to send recieve properly but it does work great. And gotta replace the microphone

The media could not be loaded. Better build quality, better features, and the ability to add a wireless mic truly make this the Cobra killer! Very impressed by this CB. I love it! You can see on the photo the thick aluminum housing case is way better than the thin sheet metal that Cobra uses. Also, if you don’t have a rats nest of wires in there very clean inside. I have no doubts at all that this radio will handle the abuse of being beaten around in my tri-axle dump truck for years to come. It will most likely retire with me.
