I was looking for a small, light, and ultra portable lock for times when I just don't want to carry a big heavy padlock or heavy duty bike chain around. These little guys work perfectly for that! Even though they're small -- like smaller than most adult's thumbs small -- they are very solidly made and the mechanism would take some serious force to open. These locks are bad... first off, the instructions you get are for a different lock. There is no release button like typical cable locks have, what you have to do is once the combo is showing, push in on the cable and slide up. Took me a little bit to figure this out. That's not even the bad part... what's bad is how easy thin the cable is. It says "not easily cut with scissors", absolute lie. Normal 8 inch scissors had no problem cutting. It was like cutting a piece of cardboard. Was even able to cut it with just a 2.5 inch pocket knife. The other huge flaw is a seam the runs all the way around the lock. All you have to do is jam a beefy flat head in the locking hole and twist, and it breaks in half. No idea how these other reviewers can praise this. They're junk, don't waste your money, and if you do buy these, subvert your expectations and don't use them to lock anything of value. ... show more

I received the 4 inch version. Works as described, easy to set the 4 digit combination by holding the button on the bottom in when on the correct combination. Easy to open once you set the correct combination. Useful for locking something to keep kids or someone out of if they are just trying to get in with their hands. Can easily be cut if combination is ever forgotten. Not for highly secure locking, invest in a better lock for that. ... show more
