    • Very difficult to change the battery
Not the battery's fault, but changing the battery in the nest learning thermostat is very complicated. The battery connector is minuscule, and the cord on the battery is so short you have to hold it in the same hand you're using to plug it to the connector. Two wire battery wires came loose from the battery's plug and a pin on the connector broke, effectively killing the thermostat. Dint buy the thermostat! ... show more

I am pretty sure trying to replace this battery and maybe any battery in a Nest gen 3 should not be attempted by anyone without this type of skill. Ended up cracking screen on thermostat. The thing that I didn't understand until now is that without a c-wire I don't think you are recharging the battery or at least not enough where you won't have to charge it occasionally. I blame Nest for not making this clear enough. When I installed mine without the extra c-wire it said it was ok. ... show more
