  • Best replacement!
My water heater is about 13 years old but it still looks brand new. It started acting up on me and would not stay on. Pilot light was on and I reset the control valve by turning it off and then back on again. It would fire up but the light on the valve kept blinking 5 times saying it was the temperature sensor failure. I looked up videos on YouTube on diagnosing the issue and finding out how to swap out the control valve hoping that was the problem. I ordered this valve and it arrived in about 2 days. I removed the old valve and replaced it with this one and it fired up right away. It has been working perfect ever since. ... show more

  • What you need to know about this thermostat...
This is the second time I've had to replace this thermostat in two years...that's three thermostats total. This t-stat has a design flaw. The settings on the tstat go vac, low, hot, A,B,C and Very Hot. If you set it past A, it sets of a thermal trip in the memory of the motherboard of the T-stat, and it stops working. There is no way to clear the memory, once it trips, the t-stat is no good and needs replacing. A better design would be to set the thermal trip point higher, or do away with any setting that would trip the sensor, or allow the memory to be cleared and reset. There is a slight work around that avoids having to drain the entire tank and replace the entire unit. The t-stat comes in two parts, the mother board is on the top (is contained in the half of the thermostat that you see in the pic) and attaches with three electrical clips (the kind that just plug In, no wiring or soldering). The second part has the thermostat part that actually goes into the tank and measures the temp of the water. The faulty part is the motherboard that sits in the front part of the t-stat. If your thermostat is newer and you have no reason to believe the internals are damaged, just replace the front part of the thermostat. Plug the clips into the right place on the existing portion, close it, and you are good to go with much less headache! ... show more

  • Very "EASY" to install
I arrived in the stated arrival date. It was very easy to install. A simple video on YouTube gave instructions clearly. Replacing this particular part required very little that even a 5th grader can change it. As a landlord who has had to replace entire Water Heaters in the past and the incurred cost having to purchase a brand new Water Heater at $700 due to damage or wear intear for the same main part. This item was only $134 saving me over $600 dollars. I strongly recommend to any landlord to search everything on Amazon for your home and appliance parts. ... show more

  • Works great, but shipping was terrible
Ordered on a Friday. I was sent a message that I would receive on Sunday. However, I received another message on Sunday saying the order was delayed and to expect delivery within one to two days. That made me a little perturbed because I pay for Prime and expect my orders within two days, I had also been without hot water for the entire weekend. Amazon needs to fix the shipping issue quickly. As far as the part goes. I had to drain water heater below level of this part which took a little while. Once I got that drained, the old one screwed out and screwed this one in no problem, had this installed within 30 minutes and had hot water within a few hours. If you are not comfortable doing this yourself, I would call somebody. I am not a licensed plumber, but fortunately for me, my Dad was and I picked up some things along the way. ... show more

  • Check This out before buying a new Gas Control Valve
I also had the dreaded issue with the 4 blinking light code (High Temperature Shutdown). As others have noted, there appeared to be no way to reset the unit, so I ordered this replacement. While waiting for the replacement to show up, I did a search on YouTube and found there is a way to reset the unit. I followed the instructions from YouTube and the water heater fired back up and has been working since. I kept the new one because I feel sure the old one must be on it's way out and I want to have the replacement ready. Quick recap on how to reset. 1) Move the control to "off" and allow to sit for 10 minutes (allowing any gas to clear out before restarting). 2) Move the control to "Pilot" and while pressing in the control switch press the ignitor until the light start blinking (this is normal process for lighting the water heater). 3) Once the light is blinking, move the control to its hottest position, and wait 10 seconds (count from 1 to 10). 4) Now move the control back to "Hot" and count to 10. 5) Move the control back to "Pilot" and wait 10 seconds. 6) Move the control back to "Hot" and the water heater should light. As previously stated, check out the video on YouTube that demonstrates someone actually performing the procedure. I would strongly suggest you purchase a replace control valve so next time it fails you have a replacement unit and will not have to wait with no Hot Water. ... show more
