Description

The AVS2000 Switch Box is intended to be used in conjunction with a power tool, such as a table saw, router or sander and an associated vacuum or dust collection system rated at 15 Amps or less. Two AC receptacles: Tool Power and Vacuum Power. A user control: a Mode Switch. The Tool Power receptacle is used to provide power to the power tool being used. The Vacuum Power receptacle is used to provide power to the vacuum system. The Mode Switch is used to determine the mode of operation of the vacuum system. Operation: AUTO Mode: Step 1: Step 2: Step 3: Step 4: ON Mode: Set the Mode Switch to ON, and the vacuum will stay on all the time. OFF Mode: Set the Mode Switch to OFF, and the vacuum will stay off all the time. WARNING:

I've been using the SENCTRL Automatic Vacuum Switch for about 6 months now with my table saw, miter saw, and router table, and I can't imagine going back to manual dust collection. This thing is brilliant! Setup was super easy—just plug your power tool into one outlet, your shop vac or dust collector into the other, and flip the switch to Auto mode. The load-sensing tech detects when the tool starts and fires up the vacuum instantly (with a smart 1-second delay to prevent any circuit overload—never once tripped a breaker). When I shut off the tool, it keeps the vac running for about 7 seconds to clear the last bit of dust from the hoses—perfect for thorough cleanup without me having to remember to turn it on/off every time. The new generation manual override (Auto/Off/On) is a huge upgrade too. If I'm just running the vac for general shop cleanup or want to force it off during a quick job, it's right there. Build quality feels solid—thick 14AWG cord, sturdy housing, and it handles my 1-1/2 HP dust collector no problem. My shop stays noticeably cleaner, I breathe less dust, and I save time and sanity not fumbling with switches mid-project. Oh, this works so well! I plugged my shop back into it that goes on my miter saw, and when I pull the trigger on my miter saw it automatically turns on the vacuum cleaner. It runs a couple of seconds extra after you let the power off for the miter saw to pick up any residual dust, and then turns itself off. I also like the feature that you can flip the switch on the box and use the vacuum cleaner manually it plugged right up and worked right away. Easy Peezy! This is an awesome switch, the first one I purchased got attached to my table saw and it has the short cord which gives me the option to use the correct length extension cord that I need. Before I had to bend all the time to turn the vacuum and saw on and off now all I have to do Is turn the saw on. I also purchased a second switch that I keep with the vacuum, and I use all the time with my sanders or tools that have a vacuum attachment. To keep the switch outlets free from dirt and debris I plug them with safety plugs when not in used. ... show more

2nd time buying product because the 1st one worked flawless until suddenly stopped working after about 2yrs . Giving it 4 stars because it worked perfect for 2 years of very lite use will up grade to 5 if it last at least 6 months of daily use .

So far it is working just as it should. The relay starts vacuum after the tool is started and turns vacuum off after tool has stopped. It helps suck up those loose chips as the saw comes to a stop. All my tools have their own 3hp vacuum. I have 5 vacuum switches and all work great.

    • Works...until it doesn't--UPDATE--free replacement!--UPDATE 2--crapped out (again)

UPDATE 2: After only a couple months, my replacement crapped out (again). Not only does the switched tool outlet not power on when the main tool is activated, no outlet works. It's a pile of junk. I'm happy that Senctrl proactively leaned forward and replaced my original unit, but the fact that two units in a row failed means I simply cannot recommend this for any serious use. I guess if I were more electrically savvy I might be able to crack this open and replace some defective parts (might be that the defects are replaceable by cheap but robust parts), but this hardly makes this a recommendation to buy. If I were you, dear prospective customer...please go shopping elsewhere (I have). UPDATE: Senctrl responded to my negative-ish review by offering me either a refund or a replacement product. I chose the replacement b/c a) I just wanted an auto vac switch that worked, and b) I do understand that some products simply fail earlier than expected, and was more than willing to give 'em a second chance. I am happy to report that the replacement arrived w/in a few days (Amazon normal), and works perfectly upon installation. I'll update this review if the product appears to fail in an unreasonably short timeframe, but for now, kudos to customer support for standing behind their product--I'm pretty sure that I got the replacement outside the official warranty, and for no questions asked. Happy days. //original review follows// I added this to my table saw setup, so I could simply turn on my saw and the attached shop vac w/ cyclone separator would start automatically, without me having to step around to switch it on. Worked like a charm, and I especially liked the feature that kept the vac powered for seven seconds after the saw stopped, to gobble up all those particles still swirling around. All was good for about five months, until one day it simply stopped working. Cold. More specifically, rocking the switch to "off" indeed means that the vacuum won't start. And the "(always) on" position works. It's just that the justification for this $30 switch, the "auto" position fails to power on the vacuum at all. Now, I can work around this by simply switching the rocker to "on" before I power up my saw, but again, this totally defeats the purpose of a little pricey switch box to begin with. And, yes, I verified the issue was not my vac by plugging in another device into the vac port. Clearly something in the unit fried, and this highly disappoints me. It's a solid state product and should last for years and years. Five months? Look elsewhere IMHO. ... show more
