  • Delicious Espresso, but some quirky features that a lot of people wouldn’t enjoy.
Delicious espresso. I have had many, many espresso machines; from the early Italian classics that you have a lever and push down the lever to make the coffee to expensive push button pro espresso makers. This little machine utilizes low pressure. The $5000 machines also use low pressure; 8 to 10. Most advertising is skewed towards assuming people don’t know this and insist that their machines get 20 units of pressure, which is not so great. It’s a very unusual machine in that it has the proper pressure for a really good Espresso but does not have a motor. - since there’s no motor, it’s very quiet! I think it’s very important though, to mention some of the drawbacks for most people, I would think. The very light weight makes it difficult to rotate the handle; you have to either hold the machine close to your body or tap the handle while holding down the top. I don’t know about you, but most of my friends wouldn’t want to have to do that. Another important consideration is that one has to be very careful about the steam release feature. it can easily build up a lot of pressure and while the steam is released either manually or just in using the machine, - there’s a whole lot of steam that comes up through the bottom or through the froth wand- and that’s seriously hot. Now for myself, since I’m the Espresso nut kind of person, I have figured out ways around these issues. One of the simplest ways to deal with the steam issue is to unplug the machine while you are either making the coffee or while you’re frothing the milk. Then steam will not be so ferocious at all by the time you’re done, and it will be much safer. Naturally everyone would have their own experience with the machine, and I have a lot of experience with different machines as I say, and I don’t think that most people would really want to deal with all of that… But if you do, and you get to learn how to use it you get very very good espresso and froth, and you can use the $5000 to get a used car or something or go to Europe 🥳 ... show more

  • Nope
I hate that sinking feeling you get when you realize that your "new" product is a return because it's been rewrapped and taped. Past that, I noticed the housing was some sort of flimsy weird plastic/metal material. The portafilter is one of those beginner kinds with a double wall and single hole. It made a lot of noise, put out some steam, but did not produce coffee. I broke it down and tried twice more, but nada. I don't know it it is a piece of junk or the previous person broke it, but this purchase was a waste of time. Sellers should clearly specify if they are selling returns. ... show more

  • Average coffee maker
I was super excited about the crema this claimed and waited anxiously for it. I am used to the new gas station coffee with a nice rich layer on top. Well first of all it stinks. There is a terribly strong smell of plastic in the top cover and coming from the plastic under the filter once heated. I hate plastic in contact with hot water. And I especially hate plastic interfering with my coffee smell and flavor. Its the smell you get when your neighbor burns plastic in the garbage. Not what I want in my coffee cup. I tried a few cups over a few days with this machine but I am not at all impressed. There is a super light film of crema clinging to the sides of the glass pot when I make a full pot. Its all gone once I pour it into my coffee cup. Maybe if I did shots only there would be more. But not like they show in the photo. Not with my machine anyway. It is also slower than others I have at home. I wanted this one for work. I will have to keep looking. ... show more
