Description

This style can truly be considered the classic American work shoe. In the early 1900s, when Red Wing Shoe Company first began to service rural America, this style of shoe became vastly popular across the country. Versatile and reliable, it was used in farm fields and blacksmith workshops during the day before being cleaned and shined up for a night out on the town. It was the all-purpose shoe for many years in many industries. Today, the Blacksmith is built using premium Red Wing leathers and a durable Vibram 430 Mini-lug sole. The extra height of this six-inch style keeps out snow in the winter and dirt in the summer, while the classic construction keeps feet comfortable even after long hours of work. Care Instructions: For Light Cleaning: Use warm water and a soft bristle brush to remove stuck-on dirt. Then use a clean, dry cloth to wipe away any remaining excess dirt. For Deep Cleaning: For heavily soiled areas, use a clean cloth or brush to apply Red Wing Shoes Leather Cleaner. Wipe the cleaner away with a damp cloth and allow the leather to dry. For Conditioning: Proper conditioning helps preserve the finish and life of your footwear. Use Red Wing's All Natural Boot Oil, Mink Oil or All Natural Leather Conditioner. You can apply these conditioners with your fingers, soft cloth or sponge. Below, you will find the recommended conditioner to use with each of our Red Wing leathers. To Protect: Add extra protection to preserve your footwear. Red Wing Leather Protector provides an invisible shield from water, dirt, oil and mud. This leather is water, stain and perspiration resistan

  • I can't believe how much I love these boots.
Size: 8.5 Color: Copper Rough and Tough
I'm a quality junkie. And my feet also have allergies to anything synthetic. So my shoes have to be leather... I can't even wear Reef flip flops! Has to be all leather stuff. These boots fit the bill with leather and cork... NICE. Decided to try them out. Everyone said these boots fit large. I wear a size 9 in Altra Running, Hoka One One, etc. So for these boots I ordered three pair: 8 1/2, 8 and 7 1/2 just so I'd know without a doubt. A note on my feet: I don't have crazy wide feet, but I definitely benefit from Altra "foot shaped" running shoes. In say classic Converse, I have to order their wide size or get them an entire size too long. If I was running in Nike, I'd probably have to do a 9 1/2 vs 9 so my feet weren't killed. Hopefully that helps someone. The size 8 fits perfectly. Size up was way too big. The 7 1/2 was way too tight. So what do I think? Oh man... These boots are comfortable. You know when a pair of shoes feels like quality, encase your foot with perfection and just feel like a part of you? That's these boots. Told my wife I might order a 2nd pair to have down the road in case Red Wing changes anything, because these are perfect. Today my daughter wanted to ride her balance bike for around a mile. I threw these on without hesitation. They're that comfortable. So yeah... if you're looking for quality, classic, IRON TOUGH and comfortable boots, these are hands down an amazing pick. I can't think of anything I'd change. Love them. Worth every penny. ... show more

  • Red Wing boots are simply everything you want or need, if you know what you are buying.
These are truly exceptional boots. Everything about them screams quality. This product is tough, good looking, and exudes genuine craftsmanship. I say all of this because this is honestly the first pair of boots that I've owned at this level of detail. Red Wings are simply everything you want or need, if you know what you are buying. My good friend has a similar pair of boots, the Iron Rangers, in black. I got to try his pair on to see what I was getting into. I would argue that these are not full on work boots, and some people would argue against that. My friend uses his Iron Rangers for work and has torn his pair up. These are stylish boots that are tough, yes, but not invincible. You don't want to get these submerged in water. They are not electric shock resistant. You don't want to get cement dust all over them. They are however, very heavy and very solid. That can be a plus or minus depending on what you need these boots for. For me, these boots will not see a construction zone or a mountain trail anytime soon, they are just a good quality stylish boot to wear out on the town, and in that regard, they suit me perfectly and will for years to come. Note: Be prepared to buy a FULL SIZE DOWN. I first bought a half size down and had to return them. Your mileage may vary. ... show more

  • Awesome boots
UPDATE 5/26/18: Shoe lace finally broke on left boot. Wasn't kidding about the waxiness mentioned previously. Not the best shoelaces. BUT replacement shoelaces are an easy remedy. The boots (though I need to polish them again) are still holding up and are probably at their most comfortable right now; the leather has formed around my feet really well after near-daily wear since first purchased. I still would recommend these boots. ORIGINAL: These boots are great. They fit just as expected. Really stiff when you first get them but, once they wear in, they form quite comfortably. Pretty good quality craftsmanship, except the shoelaces are really waxy, somewhat short, and overall tough to keep tied securely. I'm looking forward to these lasting and me not having to buy a new pair of footwear for a long while. Worth investing in. Note: photos I've attached are about a week into daily wear. ... show more

  • Great boot for dressier jeans and chinos but still weather resistant and tough
Edited review: I've had these boots for almost 4 months now so I'm past the break-in period. I bumped the boot to four stars because of the supplied insole which is practically non-existent. The more I wore the boots the more uncomfortable the insole became. I put in Shoeslulu Magic Absorbent Ultra Thin Lambskin Leather Insoles that initially made the boot much more comfortable. But that insole wore out after about three months and when it did so the right boot caused a blister in my heel after walking around Portland for an afternoon. I replaced the insoles with Superfeet Men's DELUX Dress-fit Support Insoles and these seemed to do the trick as they fit the narrow boots perfectly. The boots are way more comfortable now and my heel is nice and supported. Otherwise the quality of the boot construction is very good; I just wish the insoles were as nicely constructed as the ones that came with my Red Wing Roughneck boots. Original review: I was looking for a pair of boots that could go well with dark jeans or chinos for the kind of engineering business casual environment I work in, could wear during the snowy winter months, would be repairable if/when they wear out, and in general just look good. I have a pair of Allen Edmonds Higgins Mill brown boots that I received as a Christmas gift which I really like in almost everything except their weather resistance. The only problem with the Higgins Mill boots are that they are still a bit too elegant to wear in rain or snow as the manufacturer doesn't recommend the application of mink oil or leather protectant on them and to me, wearing galoshes over boots kind of defeats the purpose. So I bought these in charcoal as I sat here in the dead of winter. They are a great pair of boots and are exactly what I was looking for! I am a 9.5D in Allen Edmonds and ordered a size 9 in the Blacksmith boots after reading the other reviews and they fit perfectly. Also I found them to be comfortable out of the box and can get them on and off very quickly as long as I have a shoe horn. If you are used to boots or shoes with cushioned inserts or orthotics, then you may find you will need a breaking-in period for the Blacksmith. Since all my other shoes have similar cork soles my feet seemed to be comfortable with these boots right away. I will update this review in the future but for now I really like these boots! ... show more
