Oh this book; I didn’t want to put it down. I love that this author thoroughly researches each historical fiction he writes. He snared my emotions from the first page. Writing about a farm girl in the German occupation of France in World War ll. She becomes embroiled in the French Resistance. This protagonist is brave, loyal, unflinching in the acts she must carry out; yet scared and a little unsure of herself. In the face of great loss, she stays strong. ... show more

  • Red Sky In The Morning Red Sky In The Morning
Format: Paperback
Wow! This book was so interesting and sad and realistic! The Nazis were occupying France and 17 year old Marguerite finds herself having no choice but to fight for her country and family. She quickly became a huge part of the Resistance being a nurse and other things that she was disgusted by but had to do it to survive. Early on she was given a code name of Patrice Cerne and with her daring actions soon became an icon. However that only made the Nazis want her even more. There was a price to pay. There were many imposters claiming to be Patrice, and that cost lives to those who were captured and believed to be her. She continued to help save lives but at what cost? She was determined to help free France, and if it cost her her life, then it would be worth the sacrifice. This book will open eyes to the struggles, sacrifices, and the heroism of so many, and I definitely recommend it. ... show more

  • Marvelous Historical Novel!
Format: Kindle
Fighting vehemently for ones country and holding out hope takes the forefront of J. Walter Ring’s WWII historical novel “Red Sky In The Morning”! What does one do when a nation invades and turns their home into a world of fear? They fight back with all they have! People of the country side in occupied France give, up to the ultimate sacrifice for some, as this story unfolds as seen through the eyes of one young female freedom fighter. This young girl sees and goes through so much that it is not a wonder she changes in many ways from who she was into who she needs to be. Can the small town survive this war? And how can love survive or people overcome the terror of the world they find themselves in? The tale Ring weaves around the life of one girl is a master work of story telling and compressive historical research. Life within German occupied France is made so vividly real by Ring’s accurate description of how people had to survive through such terrible times. I felt the fear and uncertainty of his characters so much due to the fantastically written words on every page! This book is a must for those who pine after well written historical novels and anyone who desires to read an action packed adventure of life in war time France! ... show more

  • Well-researched historical fiction novel!
Format: Kindle
A well-researched historical fiction novel about that dreaded three-letter word...WAR! There are many WW II novels but, this one had me reading late into the night. Even though the story was a little confusing at times, rereading those sections at a slower pace, made the story clear. The author, J. Walter Ring, gave me an impressive history lesson on what the French Résistance endured to help fight for their country during the D-Day invasion of Normandy. Marguerite dreamed of becoming a nurse, not to help run her family's farm. At 17, when the Germans invade her country, she wants to help in some way, and joins the French Résistance. She is afraid for her life, but knows to be brave is her only choice. Her thoughts swirl...“𝒲𝒽𝒶𝓉 𝓌𝒾𝓁𝓁 𝒽𝒶𝓅𝓅𝑒𝓃 𝓉𝑜 𝒶𝓁𝓁 𝑜𝒻 𝓊𝓈? 𝒲𝑒 𝒽𝒶𝓋𝑒 𝓃𝑜 𝒸𝑜𝓃𝓉𝓇𝑜𝓁 𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓇 𝒶𝓃𝓎𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓃𝑔, 𝒿𝓊𝓈𝓉 𝓁𝒾𝓀𝑒 𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓈𝑒 𝒷𝒾𝓉𝓈 𝑜𝒻 𝑔𝓇𝒶𝓈𝓈. 𝒲𝑒 𝒸𝒶𝓃 𝑜𝓃𝓁𝓎 𝒽𝑜𝓅𝑒 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝓅𝓇𝒶𝓎 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝒹𝑜 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝒷𝑒𝓈𝓉 𝓌𝑒 𝒸𝒶𝓃.” I highly recommend “Red Sky in the Morning.” J. Walter Ring wrote an excellent story. This book will hold the interest of readers who enjoy a high-action story set in WWII. You won't be disappointed. ~This ebook was given to me through a giveaway by the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.~ ... show more
