  • Great speakers, and a great price
Style: 6.5" Coaxial Speaker
My mom back in the UK recently bought an old 2002 Peugeot 406 wagon/estate as she often hauls dogs and other stuff and needed a beater. She mentioned it was having radio and audio issues, so since I was planning on flying over to see them I'd do some work on the vehicle when I was there. I found these speakers through some online forums, and the price point was right for a beater. I ordered them, and took them overseas with me. Anyway, I did replace the radio with a Pioneer unit, and replaced the premium JBL OEM speakers with these. These do sound really quite good, and have a solid bass response. Not quite sure why people are complaining about the sound quality. They have enough bass that I could feel it quite clearly in my leg from where the speaker was located. Highs are crisp, mids are clear and the bass is not muddy at all. They are built well, and look like they'll last a long time. I do like the blue rubber covers around the magnets, it should certainly help prevent some of the debris in the door from getting stuck to it and avoid any water from the window sill area from rotting it out. I do recommend these as a budget option, they sound more like $70 speakers but at half of that price point. Installed in: 2002 Peugeot 406 Estate. ... show more

  • A worthy contender that should be one everyones radar
Style: 6.5" Coaxial Speaker
Outright I do not write reviews often but this is an outlier in my book. (TLDR at bottom) My friend and I installed these in all 4 doors of his 02 Avalanche and paired them with a basic kenwood-260u deck. Out of the box with no EQ adjustments it blew us away with a solid well rounded sound. Mids/Bass were strong and clean (shocking for the price point but not "wow") Highs were ever so slightly off to my ears but im a bit of a snob :p (my cars are equipped with Rockford Fosgate Punch series and kenwood performance series speakers) For comparison my friends other similar truck (01 Tahoe) is loaded with pyle 3 way speakers, a boss 8inch phantom swapped in the factory sub box and a pioneer-s21 deck (with the bass eq cranked and some treble rolled off a click) has just a little bit more low end overall from the sub but objectively the Avalanche just has a tighter sound and doesn't need the sub to be in a similar class at modest volumes. At higher volumes (a lil louder than you should be listening anyway) The Recoils are slightly sloppy (to be expected from highly sensitive speakers) but that could also be the cheap deck being pushed to clipping. We noticed this at 28+ out of 35(max volume on the kenwood to be transparent) TLDR: Shut up and take my money. If you're not planning on running an amp Recoil speakers will breath new life into a factory system or be a solid budget option to low power (head power only) builds. From this day forward they are on my radar as a solid choice 👌 ... show more

  • Stock Replacement
Style: 6.5" Coaxial Speaker
I bought these and the 6x9's as a budget stereo system upgrade to my work vehicle. In my opinion, they are the stock speaker replacement and just sounds a little better then stock. If you just want to replace the old flappy blown out stock speakers, these will do it. But, if you want clear quality sound, spend the extra money on a good stereo and speakers. ... show more

  • Don't amplify these speakers.They will fry.
Style: 6.5" Coaxial Speaker
Purchased 2 sets of speakers. These coax 6.5's and a6.5 component set to install on a Hyundai Elantra SE with a 5 inch screen base radio. Speakers sounded better than stock but way too low. The rears were so low I could barely hear them. (These coax speakers). Added a Taramps 4 x 100 amplifier. After installing,I set the gain to minimum and fired up the system. Raised gains to 1/4 turn on rear and 1/8 turn up front to compensate for the level difference on stock radio. Raised volume to 50% on radio. They sounded great for a few minutes; Then POP! The capacitors for the highs blew up on both rear speakers. One capacitor made a hole on the left speaker cone. In total , they took a week to before completely dying. If you buy these,be aware. They don't last long. ... show more
