  • Good speakers for the price but not as great as the component speakers in this series
Style: 6.5" Coaxial Speaker
For ALL the people blowing these speakers up you needed to set your crossovers on your amp to atleast 120hz so they can handle the power of around 50 to 60 watts. I've had no issues at all after putting a 12db HPF at 120hz on them at my amp on channels 3 and 4. Anyone who has been in car audio knows that coaxials with this style tweeter CAN NOT take the rated power of what the front component speakers can. That tiny resistor they use for the tweeter can't handle any real power over 50 watts. That's why crossing these coaxials with a 12db slope (An octave above FS of 60hz) is not a choice, its a must do. I really hate coaxials and wish companies would just put a matching mid driver that has the same Fs rating (60hz) as the front components do. These are ok coaxials if you set them up correctly. I'd rather run a 3 way speaker system but I'm not cutting into my brand new doors of my Mitsubishi Outlander Sport GT to do it. On the component front set of these Recoil Echo series I went inside the crossover that came with them, set the crossover to the lowest db setting for the tweeter and still crossed the fronts sets to 120hz HPF at the amp. Power handling is great on the fronts, tweeter images really nicely, and mid frequencies through them are clean with some punch to them...I have a Stinger 12 inch combo that came with an excellent quality box that also has a great port on it that doesn't chuff at high volume. I running that on a Stinger MT1000.1 which is an absolute beast of an amp...I crossed my sub at 70hz so I don't need much mid bass below 90hz from the mid drivers... ... show more

  • Sounds amazing for a budget speaker
Style: 6.5" Coaxial Speaker
These weren't expensive and I wasn't expecting much. I was extremely surprised with how good they sound how rich the low end was. They fit in my 2017 Honda CRV front doors just fine and sounds so much better than the factory speakers. I was very impressed with these.

  • Better than nothing, but not much else
Style: 6.5" Coaxial Speaker
These worked perfect for what I needed. I was selling my car that had Focal ISU 165 speakers in it. I did not want to give up my $300 speakers, so something needed to go in. These Recoil speakers were $22 for a pair, so perfect! Speakers replaced, and a 6 hour drive later, I no longer have that car but still have my Focals. As a note, the speakers were positioned in the bottom corner of my front doors, so the tweeter was way off axis (not ideal.) My doors were sound deadened with ResoNix CLD. EQ on my head unit was set at flat. Running off an Alpine iLX-W670, no amp. Here's a review of the sound: Overall: Not great. If you listen to female vocals, pop, R&B, house, rap, these might suffice for you. Rock, metal, anything with good drumming, is abysmal. Guitars get lost in themselves. Drums are drowned or barely heard. Cymbals particularly suffered. This was mostly due to placement of the tweeter at my feet, but even putting my ear up to the speaker revealed the tweeters to be lacking. Male vocals tend to get lost as well sounding very far away. Almost like there's a scoop in the frequency response in the upper mid-bass region. Best word to describe them: lacking. Now for a break down. Bass: Adequate. Even with only 16W of power, the bass was heard and felt with some mild authority. Regulate by Warren G sounded particularly good. A subwoofer would still be a great add with these speakers as it's not impressive, but not pathetic. Mid-range: Probably the worst part of these speakers. Guitars, drums, and male vocals all got entirely lost in themselves or washed out. Very little instrument separation. Even Dire Straits got muddled, which is an impressive feat as their music has amazing production. Treble: Could be mistaken for not being there. Granted, the speakers were basically pointed at my feet, but still abysmal. Off-axis response has to be -12 db or so. It's truly awful. Cymbals and high-pitched effects were entirely masked. May have been better if my speakers were positioned closer to my ears. Alas, this is the issue with coaxial speakers, especially if their tweeters only perform well in a tiny placement window. Imaging: Non-existent. Summary: If you got nothing, these are better than that. For $22, they're acceptable. I got 6 hours of use out of them. Not all 6 hours were bad. Still better than 6 hours of exclusively engine and road noise. Picking and choosing genres to listen to was almost a necessity. I would recommend (if you can) ponying up for the component set of these speakers instead of the coaxial version if you can easily place the tweeter and run the crossover. That would, hopefully, alleviate the issues with the tweeter. The better crossover may also help the mid range response, but I can't speak on that, just speculation. For coaxials, I would recommend saving up about $40 more and get Infinity Reference speakers. The woofer is much more behaved and the tweeters have much more to give. They are just down on bass a bit, but you get so much more musicality for that trade-off. I would not buy these again unless I were putting them in a vehicle with better speakers so I could sell that car and retain my better speakers. ... show more

  • My speaker set up
Style: 6.5" Coaxial Speaker
They sound and look way better then the factory speakers I had and I love them I'm thinking about taking the coaxial ones out that have in the back and put some components speakers back there and some separate tweeters but as of now I love them and it wasn't really hard to put them in you just gotta be patient ... show more

  • they are so good, my entire system is recoil products
Style: 6.5" Coaxial Speaker
as the title says im running a full recoil setup. amp is DI550.4, component REM65's, these coaxial speakers, and a RW8D4 subwoofer and it has been nothing but amazing. multiple friends who have spent substantially more money on their gear have been in disbelief or straight up pissed off because they spent so much to get a system not as good. im telling yall i would trust recoil with an entire system. i did and it has been amazing for 11 months now. not one single issue at all and i did the full install myself. i dont trust shops, i do better work myself ... show more

  • Don't amplify these speakers.They will fry.
Style: 6.5" Coaxial Speaker
Purchased 2 sets of speakers. These coax 6.5's and a6.5 component set to install on a Hyundai Elantra SE with a 5 inch screen base radio. Speakers sounded better than stock but way too low. The rears were so low I could barely hear them. (These coax speakers). Added a Taramps 4 x 100 amplifier. After installing,I set the gain to minimum and fired up the system. Raised gains to 1/4 turn on rear and 1/8 turn up front to compensate for the level difference on stock radio. Raised volume to 50% on radio. They sounded great for a few minutes; Then POP! The capacitors for the highs blew up on both rear speakers. One capacitor made a hole on the left speaker cone. In total , they took a week to before completely dying. If you buy these,be aware. They don't last long. ... show more
