  • Much lighter than regular batteries!
This came as 4 sets of 2 batteries. Well, there were 4 chargers anyway, for each pair of batteries. You can't charge all 8 batteries in one charger. There's also no charger block(s) included. I didn't find them necessary, as I plugged the type C end of the chargers into 2 batteries and plugged the other end of the short cable (just a few inches long) into the old, full sized USB ports on my wall. It took several hours for them to all go from flashing blue to solid blue lights, which I took to mean indicated full charge. Note there are no instructions included so I hope I understand everything about these as I just described, but I may be missing something. Once they finished charging up, I took three of them to my dead old school Maglite LED flashlight. Upon unscrewing that, I was treated to a fight to extract the old Duracell alkalines that had died and seemed to think that flashlight body was their crypt for eternal rest. They did eventually come out, and when I replaced them with these rechargeables, the flashlight came alive again! Now, I noticed it felt like it was floating in my hand. It was so much lighter with these than with normal batteries. In the narrow use case of a Maglite for cracking a home invader over the head with in a self-defense situation, the lighter weight is a substantial downside; in virtually every other use case for batteries, the lack of weight is a huge advantage. Now the energy can go to moving your kid's remote control vehicle around instead of devoting a substantial fraction of its charge to lugging itself around in said vehicle. Apart from feeling cheap because of the light weight, I think the product is designed to be visually attractive and appears to be quality, and size-wise this is the same form factor as a regular D battery. I wouldn't go dropping these onto a hard floor, but maybe they would survive that. All I can say for sure is that they do take a charge and power D cell devices, and at this price point I think that's a great deal, especially compared with Duracell disposables! Note that I cannot comment on how long the charge lasts because I've used the Maglite as much as I wanted to but it's still too soon for it to have died again. And it hasn't. I can at least say this: there isn't an abnormally short charge life to these that I have detected. ... show more

  • Works very well to charge flashlights for days
This review is for the Rechargeable D Batteries 8 Pack, 9000mWh Lithium D Cell Battery, 1.5V D Rechargeable Batteries, Size D Battery with 2-in-1 USB-C Charging Cable for Toys, Water Heater, Gas Stove. $39.98 These are great rechargeable D size batteries. We have flashlights all around the house and we use rechargeable batteries to save cost over non-rechargeables. They work so well to keep the flashlights running for days. The batteries charge up quickly and the best part is that they can be charged using a USB-C cable. We have those cables all around the house so we don’t have to move the cables around. There’s also a LED charging light that shows when the batteries have finished charging. When it’s charging, the blue light flashes, but then when it’s completely charged, the blue light changes to a solid blue color. That’s really awesome to have when you’re trying to fill the flashlight with new batteries. Size D batteries are so expensive too, so recharging these saves us money. It also comes with a handy, plastic case so you can take the batteries on travels. ... show more

  • Functional, useful, versatile, and last almost forever.
I recently did a review on the 4 pack of these D-cell batteries and I really do love them. They cost about $6 each when purchased in the 4 pack, and about $5 each in this 8 pack, so the larger purchase is more affordable in the long run. We have several items that still use these D-cells. They include older CD players and radios, camping lanterns, and tankless water heaters. We have an off grid cabin and there are lots of different systems that we have set up for alternative power. One of the things I like most about these batteries is that they charge on a USB charger cord. Our solar panel charge controllers all have USB ports that are powered all of the time from the battery bank, so we can charge these batteries any time. We also can’t use electricity to heat water for showers, sinks and washing because it uses too much energy, so we use propane. Modern tankless water heaters automatically ignite the burner when you turn on the shower or faucet. They do this by using an igniter that runs on D-cell batteries such as these. So this is perfect for our system because we have an unlimited supply of rechargeable D-cells at all times. I never liked the idea of tossing alkaline batteries after a few weeks or months and having to buy more all of the time. So I think this set of rechargeable batteries is well worth the initial investment. They are functional, useful, versatile, and last almost forever. ... show more

  • Exact fit D cel batteries that are lighter than standard and have more charge per cell
I really like these D Cell Battery replacements. They are much lighter than standard cells. They are an easy fit into D cell flashlights. These batteries are very high capacity (much greater than old alkaline cells. They fully charged in about 4 hours (on a Standard wattage USB charger. Charge is a bit of a guess as they only have a color LED that goes from flashing (when connected to the charger) to solid blue. There is no way to see what their charge level really is. I ran an LED desk light on 3 cells for 5 hours so they have very good life. The cost per cell and the expected recharges make thes very economical as opposed to buying and storing D cells by the pair every time you need them. ... show more

  • Love that I can recharge
These batteries are a practical alternative to constantly replacing disposables. They hold a charge well for everyday devices and recharge relatively quickly. The initial cost is higher, but it balances out over time with repeated use. Performance is consistent, though heavy-drain devices may still require more frequent charging. A good option for reducing waste and long term cost ... show more
