Top Amazon Reviews

🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The Vive Tracker is generally well received for significantly increasing the battery life of VR sets, up to 10 hours as advertised, and being relatively easy to set up. There exist some complaints regarding the quality of its straps and its USB ports. While it effectively extends playtime, users have reported issues with the fragility of the Micro USB to USB-C adapters and the adapters breaking easily. However, the company has reportedly addressed this in recent versions.

Pros

  • 😊 Extends battery life of VR sets significantly.
  • 😀 Setup is generally easy.
  • 😎 Touts compatibility for all adaptations of VR experiences.
  • 😍 The company has made adjustments to improve earlier issues.

Cons

  • 😞 Straps and USB ports are reported to be of subpar quality.
  • 😠 Adapters are very fragile and tend to break easily.
  • 😧 There are some inconsistencies between product information on the box and web page.
  • 😕 Additional options required such as third-party cables and dongles, possibly driving up the cost.

Should I Buy It?

If you are heavily into VR and regularly have long gaming sessions, this product will enhance your experience. Just be aware and ready to handle the delicate parts with care, possibly invest in third-party cables or dongles for a more durable setup.

  • Comfortable and good battery life
I purchased these to use with my Vive 3.0 trackers. They're comfortable to wear and the battery supports a charge that can charge my trackers for 3 days more-or-less. Of course, that totally depends on how much use your trackers get, but I've used mine for upwards of 8 hours a day and never ran out of charge in the battery pack. I'll usually charge my trackers and my battery pack after two days of use at the latest. If you plan on strapping these to your feet you might need to make modifications to make them more like a sandal, or search for an alternate product. They are just a single strap and do not have any way to wrap them around the back of your feet so they don't slide off. Wearing them with shoes would probably help, but I don't have experience using them with shoes. I use mine on my ankles and they stay in place for me. Just to be clear, the battery life of my trackers being 3 days more-or-less is based on ~8 hours of use with the trackers internal battery and then plugging them into the battery packs. ~7 hours Vive 3.0 trackers + ~20 hours per battery pack. ... show more

  • Without a Hitch
Perfect! Set up was a learning process because I’ve never had laser tracking before but once everything was set up it worked without a hitch I have smaller ankles and a wider hips but the straps are customizable enough to where I can wear these comfortably without issue.

  • Overall great, but a bit uncomfortable to use
I bought this product 2 months ago, so I feel like I've had plenty of time to test the product out. It's a great strap and it does what it advertises: charges the VIVE Trackers. Unfortunately, like with every product, it's not perfect. The first issue I have is with the cables that come with it. It's a short cable that's just long enough to plug into the trackers and the strap. The bad part is the connectors. It uses a micro USB connector. This connector works to charge up the battery in the strap and they provide an adaptor to USB-C for the VIVE Trackers. This is incredibly annoying because the adaptors are really small and easy to lose and are prone to bending and breaking. Why didn't they just make the connector USB-C? The second issue I have is with the strap itself. The ones for your feet use a velcro to keep it from sliding off your feet. This would be great if the velcro actually worked. One side is velcro, but the other side is a felt like material. This doesn't work with the velcro they put on it and even normal walking with the straps on makes it fall off. On top of it, it's uncomfortable because the strap goes through a loop to tighten it, which sticks up. This loop is made of hard plastic, which digs into my feet. Half the time I'm using the trackers, I'm sitting down cause my feet hurt so much from the plastic digging into my feet. Overall, the product is good and does as advertised, but it's not the most comfortable and the cables are outdated. Would I have bought the product if I knew these things? I would probably have looked for another brand first to see if there are better options. I ended up buying this one cause everyone I know uses it, so it's a trusted brand. ... show more

  • Uncomfortable and Low Number of Battery Cycles
They are the only name in for tracking straps with batteries. The design of the feet pucks are uncomfortable and out of date compared to other offerings. The batteries die quickly and are not replaceable. A friend even had one of his batteries catch fire. I have tried ordering through their main website before. They didn't send the product until two weeks after I emailed them for a refund since they did not ship the product after a month of waiting. They created a shipping label and then immediately emailed me saying my order could not be canceled since they created the shipping order... two weeks after I I emailed them for cancellation... which was already a month of waiting on a next day shipment. To which, they didn't fulfill the shipment label for another two weeks. These problems do not exist on Amazon, but shows how scummy the company is. No, Amazon, this is not a review about shipping. Don't delete the review. ... show more

  • Not perfect but its the best option for Vive tracker-based FBT.
The only other option is to not have the extended battery life... or to tape a battery of your own to a strap you like. If you want a professional grade, non-DIY solution, this is the only option. What it helps with: It gives trackers extra battery life. It'll also work for a GoPro, though, if you can mount it to the 1/4 screw. These straps are also straps, so they help with strapping things, specifically trackers, to your body. You can also use them for strapping something to a large pole or plank, but they will not work for anything small, like a carbon fiber maul stick. What I found a little disappointing: The straps themselves are a little uncomfortable compared to my old straps. I bought a $30 bundle of straps for my trackers which didn't have the extra batteries in them. They were incredibly comfortable. These battery-filled straps are nowhere near the same quality as those other straps and I can tell the difference right away. I find myself having a hard time ignoring the extra weight on my ankle straps, too. These batteries are very lightweight, but I guess every tiny bit of weight is noticeable when you're going to wear it for a long time. The USB ports of the batteries on these straps are also an extremely tight fit. I have some trouble getting 2 cords next to each other so I can charge the battery and the tracker at the same time and not require an additional charge cable to the wall. It works but it could be a lot easier to manage. Overall opinion: Get it. It's your only semi-decent option if you want to do full body tracking for extended periods of time. It also really does add a lot of time to your trackers. Good product at a somewhat expensive but ultimately necessary price. Worth it. ... show more
