It is a versatile and powerful tool that goes beyond streaming. It's an excellent choice for non-streamers looking to enhance their productivity and creative workflows. 1- I used to keep an eye on my CPU and GPU Temperature, GPU/CPU Load, and CPU Usage, so if my PC is getting pretty hot, I could turn on the AC and bring down the temperature. 2- I can use the discord setting to Mute my mic or Deaf myself as well as to share my screen and join different channels with just one touch, also a plus with the soundboard you can have your favorite ones without the need to look for them inside the discord app. 3- For Zoom meetings, Webex meetings, etc... I have all the buttons set up so I can easily share my screen, mute my mic, view the members inside the meeting, the chat, all in a couple of touch. 4- I can access my games directly with just one touch like my Steam games, GamePass, Battlenet, Epic, and GOG. 5- I can make a profile when I'm developing a program to take actions that will take me many steps to reach with one click. I LOVE this gadget!! Is it required? No. Do I use it every day may times a day? YES! It’s got a small profile so it’s not obtrusive on the desk. I really do feel like it saves me time as accessing apps and such is very easy. What I didn’t realize was that the buttons are menu options. For example, for one of them I have it set to apps. When I select that it goes down into a sub menu where I have 9 apps configured for quick access. I thought each button would only have one shortcut use. I didn’t realize there was an option for submenus. It’s fairly easy to set up, the buttons are easy to use and it seems durable. I’ve noticed very little lag. What I haven’t been able to figure out is quick ways to mute. I have a MuteMe which I was hoping to replace with this, but so far it be not figured that out. I’ve had it for around 2 months and it’s my favorite desk accessory. ... show more

For 10+ years of using OBS I used a the 10 keypad on the keyboard and hotkeys in OBS for all my video recording and streaming. I picked up the Elgato Stream Deck as an addition to the Roland Bridgecast audio mixer and the Stream Deck is now a main key component to making OBS run smoothly. - Functionality: The keys themselves can be customized from labels to pictures to hotkeys and websites at the click of one button press. So if you're using OBS and want to switch scenes without having to use the mouse and switch to the other scenes, this can do it. If you want to setup pressing 1 button to make a Follow on Twitch and Sub to YouTube animation play at the same time on screen, you can do that. If you want to add SFXs to your content with one push of a button, mute your mic or capture card, play a meme song to fit that one clip in the moment.... You can do it. - Stream Deck software: Setup is surprisingly easy with the Elgato Stream Deck app you can download onto your PC and through the free store you can download a TON of free add ons for Stream Deck that help control apps you use. Using folders that update in real time on the device's button displays you can directly control Discord, Spotify, OBS, even apps like Facebook messenger. People have made additional plugin add ons that act as hotkeys to run all the programs. Using folders you can neatly organize all the functions into their own separate folders for ease of use. For example, I have all my scenes for OBS live streaming on Twitch set in one folder, if I click back 1 folder I then have another folder for SFXs to play through the PC speaker audio channel and then that plays on the stream and then 2 clicks and I can control OBS again. - Button Setup: Setup of the buttons and functions is similar to setting up folders on a cellphone or putting files in a folder on your PC. If you don't see the app you're looking to use on the Stream Deck simply click the store front button at the top of the Stream Deck app and then search in the store for the free app add on of your choice. Next go back to the main front page of the Stream Deck software and you'll find the add ons on the right side of the software ready to be added to the Stream Deck and double click on any of the buttons to open it up and find the options to change the options of the button on Stream Deck, change any labels, fonts, colors, etc. A cool feature I found was I added my viewer count on Twitch to a button so the number updates in real time. - Connectivity: The USB cable in the box is a USB C to USB C cable. I used a regular USB to USB C cable I had to connect the Stream Deck to my PC so I can confirm it will work fine but something to keep in mind when it comes to compatibility with your setup. If you don't have a USB C plug in on your PC you might need to buy a regular USB C cable. Overall I was surprised at how much functionality the Stream Deck has and how easy it was to set it all up. The hotkey actions streamline workflows in film editing, music production, and photography. However, I have encountered a major issue when using multiple monitors in certain circumstances. My Stream Deck often freezes up, and attempting to end the process and restart it in Windows 11 does not resolve the problem.
