Description

The BAKFlip MX4 was the first matte-finished, hard folding cover to market, becoming America’s 1 Selling Hard Folding Cover in just a few years. Simply put, the MX4 just looks better than other covers. Its sleek no-profile appearance allows you to maintain the appearance of your truck, while enabling you to securely stow cargo in the bed. The MX4’s pioneering, textured matte- finish adds a premium look and feel while also protecting against UV damage, annoying finger print marks, and scratches. MX4 has everything you expect from a premium cover. The engineers at BAK Industries fine-tuned even the smallest elements of the cover, down to adding cab corner caps and rail-end cap, to extending a matte-finish throughout the cover’s side rails, clamps, and elevator bolts. The MX4’s integrated buckle system and automatic latching mechanism allows you to drive with the cover partially or fully opened without covering the 3rd brake light. For 100% bed access, simply unlock the cover from either side via its pull latches and fold the cover all the way up against the cab. From there, you can prop the cover in place by tightening two rods into the underside of the panel. For enhanced durability, the MX4 also features pre-molded, shock-absorbent bumpers on either side of the panel, protecting the folded panels from hitting the cover during turbulent driving. I saved a few dollars and bought this from the Amazon Warehouse I'm assuming as a return. It was missing some hardware when repackaged that I had to purchase but over all was still worth the savings. This was the cover chosen for a 2024 Jeep Gladiator Mojave X. The reason for the 4 stars is two-fold. The cover is quite expensive, and in this instance, the package was 2 washers short. There are always spare parts laying around the shop so this wasn't a big deal. This is the cover that was overwhelmingly praised by enthusiasts who have had the cover and many compared it to others they've owned and this one seemed to be far and away the most popular option. That's why it was chosen, even with the price point. For the price, it would have been nice to have spare bolts/washers/etc. included in the package. Some of the parts are pretty specialized and would have been hard to find replacements for. Pros: The installation was easier than expected. Go to the company's website and they have videos on how to install the cover on various trucks. After watching this, it was pretty simple. The printed instructions were decent as well, much better than some of the reviews I've seen. The cover seems to be a quality product but time will tell for sure. Have not yet had a rain storm or car wash to test the cover in. It rolls up easily and seems very secure when in place with the tailgate up. It is also quite manageable if you install it with just one person. Perhaps with a larger truck/cover, you may need a second. Cons: Price. The cover is about 50% more expensive than comparable covers. The QA missed a couple of parts but it wasn't a big deal in this case. Still, something to mention. ... show more

I did a lot of research on tonneau covers for my 2021 Jeep Gladiator before purchasing this one. I kept coming back to the Bak X4s because of the security features, especially the rail long locking mechanism that secures both sides of the entire cover and not just the end at the tailgate. The install was a little tricky, but, at the end of the day it was 12 bolts in total. I have a spray in bed liner and needed to remove some of it to allow for a proper install. The cover is pretty much watertight at the bulkhead and sides, but the tailgate closure leaves a small gap above the tailgate itself. We've had a ton of rain over the last two weeks and only a little got in at the back end of the bed. Overall this cover looks great and functions very well! ... show more

I hesitate to write this review before resolution, however.. I bought the BAKFLIP MX4 TS Hardtop cover. Installation took a couple of hours in 90 degree sun and really wasn't too bad. Instructions were clear enough and went together well. It absolutely looks great. My 2024 Gladiator has a spray on liner in the bed, so I was expecting some issues with the front gasket based on reviews. The unit requires side rails for latching. The side rails will move side to side since they do not have a reinforced angle for stiffness. Just make sure not to slam cover as you are putting it down. Leaks. Yes. The side adapter rails and the cover do not have same elevation above the truck bed lip. As a result, there are holes that are taller than the gasket requiring doubling up the gasket in the front corners. The cover, front to back, is JUST long enough. In order to fit, I had to put the gasket on the very edge of the front lip in order to get it under the front rubber cover gasket while just barely covering the tailgate. So leaks occur on front and back of cover. RealTruck is sending a new front gasket and I am trying another bed gasket which is on order as well. My company uses the BAKFLIP G2 hard top on all company pickups. The ones that don't leak in front have the cover slid forward about 1/8 inch forward to get the front seal proper. This does leave leaks in the back, but the tailgate doesn't seal anyway so this drains out. I love the look, I can't wait to put a truck rack in the rail, and it is easy to flip up. I will make it work but for the price, I really would have liked another inch or two added to the cover to ensure sealing. ... show more
