Description

The BAKFlip MX4 was the first matte-finished, hard folding cover to market, becoming America’s 1 Selling Hard Folding Cover in just a few years. Simply put, the MX4 just looks better than other covers. Its sleek no-profile appearance allows you to maintain the appearance of your truck, while enabling you to securely stow cargo in the bed. The MX4’s pioneering, textured matte- finish adds a premium look and feel while also protecting against UV damage, annoying finger print marks, and scratches. MX4 has everything you expect from a premium cover. The engineers at BAK Industries fine-tuned even the smallest elements of the cover, down to adding cab corner caps and rail-end cap, to extending a matte-finish throughout the cover’s side rails, clamps, and elevator bolts. The MX4’s integrated buckle system and automatic latching mechanism allows you to drive with the cover partially or fully opened without covering the 3rd brake light. For 100% bed access, simply unlock the cover from either side via its pull latches and fold the cover all the way up against the cab. From there, you can prop the cover in place by tightening two rods into the underside of the panel. For enhanced durability, the MX4 also features pre-molded, shock-absorbent bumpers on either side of the panel, protecting the folded panels from hitting the cover during turbulent driving. Hello, I purchase the bakflip mx4 cover approximately a month ago. The cover is extremely well-made, the drain lines work perfectly and the cover has a extremely low profile fit and finish. Installation was relatively simple with a few basic tools, the only thing that was remotely challenging was finding a 7/8" drill bit to drill through the plastic plugs for the drain lines. I would certainly not hesitate to purchase this cover again, it's extremely well-made, lightweight, and completely folds flat up against the rear window. This was an excellent purchase. ... show more

This fills my requirement for a sturdy bed cover to protect the items in my bed. This brand is a little expensive. I bought a return with a damaged box. It was complete, and easy to install. It has worked well for me. I keep a couple totes with extra supplies in my bed, and this provides good security and protection for that equipment. For the most part this is a great cover. There are, however, a couple of issues that I’ve noticed that aren’t major but warrants mentioning. The pros: First, the cover was easy to assemble. Working alone it took me between 45 minutes to an hour to install the rails and cover. Another thing is the cover is that it simply looks great. I’ve had other truck owners compliment me on how good it looks. Pretty much all the compliments have been from people that currently have the soft covers. Also, I have no rattling or noise when I’m driving; it fits my bed like a glove. The cons: The tube mounted underneath the cover that guides the wire that releases cover has popped out. I plan to go to the hardware store a get a same screw to secure it. At times the rods that act as a prop when the cover is fully opened will fall from the little holders when they’re not in use. This is not to be confused with them coming off while they are propping up the cover. They are very secure. Another issue is that I’ve had to fish a screw or two from the bed an resecure them to the underside of the cover. Lastly, the cover in not completely waterproof. This wasn’t a deal breaker because going in I knew that it was a possibility that it wouldn’t be waterproof since I’ve read mixed reviews regarding this issue. The manufacturer does not guarantee the product to be waterproof, however, some people have had success in the area. It has been my experience that rain will permeate the edges of the cover especially when it’s sitting in the rain. When driving through rain, the rain washes right off before it seeps down through the cover. The amount of water isn’t all that bad; if I had to guess I would say it’s about the equivalent of having two cups of water splashed in the bed and almost always just near the edges so I try to put items that need to stay dry towards the center. Overall, it’s a really nice cover and in the seven or so months I’ve owned it the minor issues I’ve had with the product is far outweighed by the utility, look, and convenience of having the BAKFlip. ... show more

This is my 2nd roll top. Prior was a Bak x2 from 2016. Which I loved and time for a new one. Packaged arrived in decent shape. A little beat up but nothing major with only 1 small puncture in box. When installing the top, rolling it out. Noticed one side of the end cover for the top was missing. The other side was broken off as shown in photo. Everything was wrapped up nice and looks original from the factory. So quality control checker must have been sleeping that day. Not happy about this at all. Called customer service at Bak ind. The person said that's unusual..... parts are in stock. They are sending new parts in the mail soon. Hopefully the rt ones. The top material is nicer than prior but it's not as strong as prior model. The older model was beefier and heavier. This will work and still function as I intend to use it for. Like the new system for keeping the aluminum bars in place. Much more solid and should last longer. I'll change my overall rating later if and when the correct parts arrive. Update 5/28. Parts arrived today to correct the situation. Changed to 5 stars. The media could not be loaded. Had this for a week. It leaks to me where the center does a double fold when you fold it up. So when it’s down it doesn’t seal good. I have more clamps on there way because the three per side that they provide isn’t enough. This shell has already shifted on me and everytime you let a section down it feels like it’s going to come off the tracks. Wish I could get my money back. 1100 dollars doesn’t grow on trees ... show more
