My step-father is a big wine guy. I noticed he didn't have a nice wine opener in his new house, just the little foldable ones. So, the search began for a great Christmas gift for him. I settled on the RBT Electric Corkscrew Wine Opener after reading some reviews. I remember receiving the Rabbit Original Lever Corkscrew Wine Opener a few years ago and remember it was a good product; sturdy, well-made, and most imporantly worked well. Well, now that everything is electronic and my step-father is kind of a techy guy, so I thought this Electric Corkscrew would be a great gift. Ordered it and it came just fine in terms of packing and shipping. Gave it to him as an early present and we opened a few bottles of wine. The thing worked, a little annoying you have to grip the bottle so hard (the coaster thing is useless). It runs out of battery. We go to plug it in and BAM! Just gently plugging the charger into the top of the corkscrew breaks off the receiver inside the device and it's toast. Being sensible, I remember it was still within the return window. So I package it up and return it. No problem; they send me a new one (that didn't have the charger break upon first use). Well, lo and behold, fastforward to two charges later and the thing won't turn the right way to go into the bottle. It only turns counter-clockwise to unscrew. Hit the little reset button on the top. Still doesn't screw clockwise. Well, after punching in a cork trying to get the thing to work, I gave up and will never use the thing again. Wish I'd just bought the RBT Black Brass Tabletop Corkscrew Puller. At least there's nothing electric with that. What a WASTE OF MONEY. TWO DEFECTIVE DEVICES. I’ve had this wine opener for 2 years and I love it. I didn’t have any problems with it charging. It’s really easy to use— just put it straight on top of the bottle, hold the bottle firmly, and it does all the work for you! No need to pull or apply force like with other openers. It’s been a hit at parties and friends always think it’s really cool. The battery life is really good too. Depends how many bottles you open, but for me it was several months in between charges. I have the rest of the collection too and it looks beautiful displayed on my shelf. I’m sure any wine drinker would love this as a gift! ... show more

I would not recommend this product! It is only 1 1/2 years old and it no longer works after fully charging it. Don’t waste your money!

This could be a great product for opening wine bottles effortlessly, and it was for 6 months. My husband and I open approximately 2 bottles a week, sometimes 3 at most. The opener works very smoothly, easy to operate, even fun to use! We were opening a bottle of wine a few days ago and the device just stopped running/working. At first I thought it had lost it's charge so I plugged it in and let it charge up (laying it on its side in case it started to extrude the cork). It never extruded the cork. Upon closer inspection the corkscrew appears to be crooked inside of the neck chamber and is stuck (see photos). You can't operate the corkscrew except straight on so not likely operator error. We tried everything we could think of to get the corkscrew to release the cork and finally gave up. It is now an $86 paperweight. Really disappointed for the price. If you don't mind replacing it every 6 months, it's a great wine opener! ... show more

Well engineered. The cutter it the top works great. Charable on a phone charger. Good weight and solid. No buttons. Just put it on the bottle and does it all. After the cork is out of the bottle you can lay it down. It spits out the cork automatically while you pour. I want a 2nd one expensive though ... show more

This handsome RBT Wine Opener worked fine for a year until the usb charging port broke off inside and then it couldn't charge. I contacted Amazon they suggested contacting the manufacturer RBT [email protected] which I did. Kudos to RBT as they shipped me a new wine opener. I notice on the new opener the charging port is a little difficult to plug in. I will need to be very careful in plugging the charger in. Let's see how long this one lasts as I think the charging port is a weak link in the otherwise handsome stylish product. ... show more

    • Works really well until it doesn't
I purchased this electric corkscrew for my wife for Christmas in 2020 and it did its job well until December 9th, 2021. My wife did put it through its paces opening a new bottle of wine 4 times a week, and she refused to remove the foil before uncorking, but I would have expected something top of the line like this to last quite a bit longer despite the abuse. In the end it just stopped working - stick it on a bottle and it just sits there, even if you remove the foil first. There is no warranty so as with others it is now an expensive paperweight. My wife has a hand injury so is not able to perform the typical twisting and pressing motions of a manual corkscrew so this device was very helpful in that regard. In the end I would say this might be a good purchase if you have an injury that prevents you from using a manual corkscrew but also have the patience to remove the foil from the bottle first. ... show more
