  • Good scooter for 9 - 12 year olds
I bought this for my nine year old son's birthday. I received it within days of ordering. The directions said to charge for 24 hours before first use, so I assembled the scooter, hid in the shed and plugged it in for 2 days. My son was super excited to get it, but it wouldn't work. He ran up and down the driveway till he was exhausted but it never worked. The manual said the charger LED would be green when charged. The light was green, but it didn't work. I got a screwdriver to remove the cover plate, but before I did I noticed a long crack down the side. I also noticed one of the screws had been torqued down too much, the head went through the plastic cover. When I removed the cover plate I saw a wire had been sandwiched between the battery and the cover plate and the wire jacket had been cut. I put some tape around the wire and moved it to a better location. I also noticed one of the wires to the reset button was disconnected and the switch lead was bent. I straightened the lead and connected the wire and the scooter worked. I screwed the top cover plate back on and put some tape on the crack and gave it to my son. He got on and yelled, "whoa this is way faster than Nathan's!" His friend has an E100 chain drive. My son put the scooter down and said he didn't want to play with it. He finally admitted the scooter scares him when it kicks on. The torque on this thing kicks in immediately and will knock you back if you're not ready for it. Top speed is just a hair faster than the E100, but the E100 doesn't give you that jolt when the motor kicks in. I worked with him and coached him to lean forward and anticipate the motor kicking in. He's used to it now and really likes it, but it definitely intimidated him at first. It's a good little scooter, I just wish the motor kicked in a little easier. You also have to make sure it's plugged in after use or it might not work next time. I contacted the seller about the issues, but their recommendation was to return it for a replacement. You can't take your kid's birthday present away and wait for a return, especially when all it needs is a new top cover plate. I contacted Razor and they apologized for the quality issues and shipped a new cover plate out the next day. I've been a manufacturing engineer for half my career, I know mistakes happen, I'm just happy the company replaced the parts without any hassle. The scooter itself is made from good materials. The frame is tube steel. The front tire is inflatable, while the rear one is not, but is solid rubber. The top cover plate is plastic, but I think it's fine if put together properly. All in all it's a good little scooter that my son likes to ride. I would recommend it, just make sure your little one wears a helmet and help him or her get used to the instant torque the motor has. ... show more

  • Relatively decent priced and plenty of fun for a 10+ kid. Don't forget your helmet!
Style: Black Deck Color: Purple Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
Bought this for my 11 year old daughter. It's a perfect size and I like the slightly larger inflatable front tire (as opposed to the hard rubber on the model below this). It charges the same speed as the lower model and has the PowerCore motor for smoother starts, longer rides, and better lifespan. it came well packed and we easy to assemble. Simply tighten the handlebars, charge for 12 hours, and you're off. It says it's only good for about 120lbs but I put my extra large self (roughly twice the recommended weight) on it for a short ride and it worked just fine. I wouldn't recommend doing that regularly. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase so far (it's only a month or so old). I'll update if that changes. I think this is a worthwhile upgrade over the very similarly priced E90 model, for the rubber wheel, if nothing else. ... show more

  • Fun, Strong Acceleration, Noisy Rear Wheel
Style: Black Deck Color: Purple Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
This is the first powered scooter for my 7-year daughter. Her older brother has the E-300 with the pneumatic tires. The hard, thin, urethane "tire" on the back of the E100 is noisy. It bumps and clacks over every joint in the sidewalk and makes for a bumpy ride (like Indiana Jones at Disney). My son's E300 is much smoother and quieter (and, yes, more expensive). The hub motor on the E100, however, accelerates more quickly than the E300 but has a lower top speed. Sometimes this scooter doesn't want to go when my daughter pushes off. I have to get on and push off REALLY hard to get it going, but after that it works just fine. It's like it isn't fully awake until it gets pushed hard. Other than that, it's fun and my daughter has fun with it... could use a couple improvements though. ... show more

  • Not bad.
Style: Aluminum Deck Color: Blue Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
After 3 charge cycles and a 180 pound man riding it hard, one of the two 12 volt batteries failed. I don’t believe weight or load was the cause of this, it ran well and the batteries went through full charge/discharge cycles. Until the last cycle when after a full 12 hour charge, one battery read 12.8v while the other was at 9v. Razor Company is kindly mailing me a replacement battery under warranty. However I replaced both 12v 6ah batteries with two 12v 9ah batteries (which required that I raise the deck 1/2”.). The scooter now rides longer and seems to have a little more torque available-top speed is expectedly unchanged. Good value over all, but the power core E90 lasts longer on one battery even with me on it. What you get with E100 is slightly more foot space, slightly taller handle bar, and a pneumatic front wheel. ... show more

  • "Twist grip acceleration control" goives only FULL SPEED or Power off (you cannot modulate the power).
Style: Black Deck Color: Purple Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
Literature states: " Twist-grip acceleration control." yes, the throttle "twists" but it either gives FULL power or NO power ... it is not a modulated throttle like one (me) might expect. I rated 4 stars since the scooter is very well built, stylish and, the power available is phenomenal (IMHO). Customer service also seemed to be very responsive, in that there was no problem reaching a representative to speak with. I really liked this product but, since it is for young grand kids, I felt the lack of throttle control was a detriment if, one had to slow to a moderate pace, it would be extremely jerky: similar to applying full gas or no gassds to a car to maintain 20mph ... show more

  • Don’t buy the black ones...good support from Razor however
Style: Black Deck Color: Blue Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
UPDATED: After both scooters dying we called Razor. Even though by the time I called we were outside of the 90 day window they sent us new batteries. Swapped the batteries (5 minute job) and it has been solid ever since. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Scooter died within 30 days. They replaced it with the same thing. 2nd one died about 45 days in. Ugh. Seems like a bad batch from 2018. Buy other than black color my daughter’s silver one still going strong for several months and has a 2019 date of manufacture. They must have found the issue and corrected for newer units ... show more
