  • Could improve on design but works fine
Style: 5A,Neutral Wire Required
Overall the Motion Sensor does a good job. Wiring is pretty straightforward but getting the wires in the hole is a challenge due to the fact the holes are restricted by the housing. Since the unit is mounted in a ceiling it would make more sense to have the wires inserted in the top. That said...I finally got the wires bent enough to get them in and it worked fine. The only other issue I had was trying to get the Lux settings to work for my garage (door open most of the time). Finally I gave up and turned the Lux setting to off and with the timer set to 5 minutes. I'm happy with that and for the price, would recommend the unit. ... show more

  • Loved it so much we got two
Style: 5A,Neutral Wire Required
As the review heading states, we were so impressed with these that we have now ordered two. We will probably order more as we are finishing our unfinshed basement. We got the first one to automate the lights at the base of our basement stairs. The existing light switch is in a dumb location and you are always fumbling in the dark and trying to find the switch. This occupancy sensor took care of that right away. However, it is the features and functionality on this that have prompted us to order a second (for the basement workshop) and possibly even a third (for the storage room). First, this installed very easily and is sized to fit on a standard sized round junction box. Most or all of the features are accessible from the surface of the unit - which means you do not have to take it down to change the settings. The sensor is highly sensitive, had a huge range of sight, and catches our movement even if we are not directly in view of this. There are abundant time-delay settings so this is highly customizable. It also appears this has a daylight sensor on it which will keep the lights from coming on if it senses daylight from nearby windows. (We haven't tested this as most of our basement has no windows.) You can override this on the unit, but this is a great energy saving feature. If you have daylighting, you *shoudn't* need artificial lighting. I am super impressed that this occupancy sensor has this feature. If you opt to order this, make sure you are ordering the correctly sized unit for the amount of lights you have. The 5A unit will carry up to 500 watts give or take. The 10 A will carry the 1100 W listed on Amazon. Finally, the price is fanastic, making this occupancy sensor an exceptional value. ... show more

  • Does the job for a good price.
Style: 10A,Neutral Wire Required
I have an 1,100 square foot garage that I wanted an occupancy sensor for. I was skeptical of how well this device would do for less than $20 when others were going for a lot more. However I’m impressed since it seems to be doing the job very well. I would recommend.

  • Works great, hard to wire up...
Style: 5A,Neutral Wire Required
This occupancy sensor works very well once you get past a few hurdles. Firstly, the wiring labeling on the sensor contradicts itself. My unit has molded labeling and printed labeling. The printed labeling is the correct one to use. The incoming line and neutral are the outside connections with the load being the center connection. The other major issue is the poor choice in electrical terminals they used for connecting wiring. Electrical terminals like these should be clamp down terminals that can accommodate solid or stranded wiring. With a clamp down terminal, as you tighten the screw, a metal clamp squeezes the wire(s) to hold them fast. This device uses a screw only, no metalic clamp, so if your using stranded wiring, you need to terminate the wires with ferrules so the set screw has something solid to grasp. Another issue is mounting. I want to use these with a drop ceiling and there is no clips to snap the sensor on to the ceiling grid rails. I used double sided foam mounting tape. The sensor also does not have any means to be used with a standard electrical boxes. I used a small junction box above the drop ceiling to connect the lights, incoming power, and the occupancy sensor together. If the manufacturer can address all these issues, this would make the product much easier to install. It does work incredibly well but wiring it up safely is a challenge. ... show more

  • This is one of the better motion sensors I've installed.
Style: 5A,Neutral Wire Required
I like these motion sensors for a lot of rooms in the house that are used "occasionally". It keeps from having lights left on and nobody noticing for days. I'm using this sensor to turn on the new lighting panels I added to the unfinished basement laundry area. I just took out the old standard bulb socket and used the existing junction box to run wire to the new lights. This sensor was easy to set up and is working better than I expected. The buttons that change settings for delay, motion sensitivity, and the light sensor value are very easy to adjust and the display LEDs make it easy to verify the settings are where you want. Although I turned off the light sensor since this is in a basement, but like the idea that the light wouldn't even come on if installed in a daylit room and additional light was not needed. It's a really attractive case too. It would go great in a finished living area as the cover has a sleek, smooth, professional look. I would have rated 5 stars easily but I needed to add some stranded wire pigtails to connect the sensor. It was too sharp of an angle to get a good connection with 12/2 solid core Romex wire. I was also a little disappointed that the mounting holes didn't line up with the standard round junction box. Those are pretty small issues and don't affect the performance. I really like this sensor switch. ... show more
