  • Fantastic outing
One of the best Avenger series in years. Sharp dialogue, great art and super science. Al Is one of Marvel's best writers

  • The New, New Avengers
In my Vol. 1 review I described The New Avengers as a next generation Fantastic Four. It was awkward, because there were more than four members. The narrative in Vol. 2 is quite different. The series now resembles Despicable Me. This was exactly the change the series needed. The new tone allows the series to fit a niche that is vacant, and provide some laughs. I wish they would separate themselves from the Squirrel Girl style humor a little bit more though. It shouldn't be afraid to do it's own thing, especially with this new lovable felon approach. The only thing I worry about is that the story only put a temporary band-aid over the overcrowding problem. I have hope that it will work out in the end, but it will need a master writer to pull it off. Will I buy Vol. 3? Maybe. I started reading the series, because my favorite character, Squirrel Girl, is in it. Even though the series is unique, funny, and holds great potential, personally, I am not a fan of non lawful good heroes. However, I can see the series continueing to entertain people who don't have my tastes for a full run. ... show more

  • Crossover time
A fun comic chewed up by crossover-itis. One storyline over and the setup for this team was interesting. But by this, the second volume, the end is already in sight. Part of the team sent away for the sake of an Avengers family story. But then what?

  • The American Kaiju, Your Tax Dollars at Work
More Meh like the first, and now Shield is Evil? again this is stopping ground for helping tie up some loose ends of a few other stories, and a character dump. Also I think that someone said American Kaiju in a development meeting and they finially found a way to wedge it in here. and much like my first review the transformation of Champagne Robot and the Covers are what keep it from being a 2 star ... show more

  • OK story but missing something.
I like the idea of Sunspot being in charge of A.I.M. I just don't know if Ewing pulls it off as well as Hickman did. It doesn't take long for A.I.M. to tick off the U.S. government and they and S.H.I.E.L.D. come after them. The team splinters part way through the book and then reforms as just a normal team at the end of the book while A.I.M. goes off to do it's own thing. ... show more
