Description

Raypak 009195 Millivolt Copper Natural Gas 399,000 BTU Pool Heater is engineered to last. Raypak Millivolt heaters are standing pilot gas heaters with a mechanical thermostat and Polymer headers. Looking at the heater, you can see that it's designed differently than most heaters on the market. The Raypak Millivolt Copper Natural Gas Heater's unique "pagoda design" enables the heater to stay effective during high wind speeds and downdrafts. The cabinet of the heater is constructed from a galvanized metal, then powder coated with a 7 stage process to outlast the elements and corrosion. Inside the unit, the heater boasts polymer resin headers and a copper fin tube. The Raypak Millivolt Copper Natural Gas Heater not only lasts long, but is extremely easy to use and operate. The heater has a built-in Microprocessor Controlled Thermostat to set your pool or spa at the perfect temperature with the push of a button. It's also remote compatible and can connect to any two or three wire remote for added convenience. The heater also contains built-in diagnostic controls to alert users or pool professionals of any issues and the location of these issues.

  • Noisy & Unreliable
Purchased a Hayward RAYPAK 266k BTU natural Gas Pool heater with digital ignition from INYOPOOLS about a month ago. Had it professionally installed. Nothing but trouble since. Very hard to light off the burners (the display’s favorite phrase is “Ignition Failure.” On those occasions when it does light it screams like a “BANSHEE.” Contacted INYO and they brushed me off to the manufacturer. Contacted Hayward and they said it was an install problem. Got the installer to talk to Hayward and then come out to look and fiddle with a “by-pass?” Still screams when lit but the noise goes away after a few minutes. The ignition failures persist. Extremely disappointed in this product and Hayward/Raypak. Would not recommend. ... show more

  • Use a service company
Buy it from a local professional. I've been doing pools for 22 years I have found Ray pack to be the most reliable and dependable when it is an authentic unit

  • Failed just after 2 years
The heater core totally rusted out and Raypak has wisely warranties their pool heaters for 2 years and will not cover anything. My prior unit lasted over 20 years.

  • Do not Buy
We purchased a Raypak heater at the advise of our pool company. We had it professionally installed. Within 2 years it started leaking and they blamed our water PH. We have owned pools with heaters for 20+ years, never had this happen. We have never had a heater go out on us. It cost us $1,600 to repair and weeks to get the part installed. Do NOT buy this heater. I would give it Zero stars if i could ... show more

  • Raypak is the best Gas Pool Heater on the Market - so says a 25 year industry veteran!
I am a Pool and Spa installer and service company with over 25 years of indepth installations and repair of all types of heaters including Raypak heaters. I am also a warranty station for Raypak and therefor see the best and worst of what they create. I am a warranty station for other heater brands as well and I can tell you with 1st hand authority that Raypak has it together and is the best product out there. All the other brands have been trying to get their heaters to preform reliably like the Raypak brand but I can tell you that from my many years of experience, they do not measure up. Most tout slightly better efficiency ratings with enclosed combustion chambers that have additional sensors, fans, and controls that will and do go bad. Don't be fooled by this slightly better operational cost. It's more than outweighed by the additional service calls and parts you will pay for when buying these lower quality, high maintenance heaters. One other thing about warranties for online purchases. I'm a firm believer that a professional who's going to install an appliance that is very capable of possibly burning up or exploding if not properly installed deserves the additional funds that purchasing the heater direct from his company rather than online provides him. Insurance for this work is expensive and believe me, you want a company that is insured and experienced. When just about 65% of all pool businesses have gone under in the last 5 years, you want to know that the guy who installed your heater next to, or even in your home will still be in business if the worst case scenario happens. The relatively small additional price you paid for that professional to keep up his insurance, his employees, their tech training and all the other myriad costs that every pool business is facing in these uncertain times will seem like small potatoes compared to having to repair potentially tens of thousands of dollars of damage and lets not forget the potential for the unimaginable tragedy, the possibility of the loss of life. Face it, when you're talking having to repaint a wall gone bad by a less expensive contractor, there's no comparison to the potential possibilities created with faulty wiring and components that might be created due to excessive shipping back and forth across the country. Here's Raypak's version of their opinion about buying heaters online http://www.raypak.com/Support/Internet%20Sales%20Policy ** BTW, Have you noticed that pretty much all of the complaints have been from online purchasers... Buy a Raypak from a local Pool company and save yourself a potential load of trouble... ... show more

  • The Best Pool Heater
Having worked in the swimming pool business for over 13 years I can say this is the best heater you can buy. I've worked on many heaters including ones made by Teledyne Laars, Pentair, Sta-rite, Jandy, and Hayward. These are the reasons why I recommend this heater in my business: it has a simplistic, easy-to-work-on design with less wiring and moving parts. This is important because mice and insects destroy all of the heaters I mentioned at a faster rate. Raypak actually seals the computer board in a compartment that is almost impregnable. When something does go wrong the diagnosis is much simpler because there are fewer wires and parts. Frankly just about every other heater I work on is a complete nightmare in the wiring department. Over the years Raypak is the only company I've seen make meaningful changes to their product namely, protecting the delicate computer board and decreasing the size of the power supply. Furthermore, this is one of the only brands I've never seen catch on fire, because it is vented properly. Older Purex and Hayward heaters were notorious for burning up but luckily the wires would melt and shut the heater down so it never became an inferno. Newer Hayward and Sta-Rite heaters use a power vent, which is a cool idea although unnecessary for outdoor use. However these fans crap out all the time as mice seem to love them more than computer boards. It's just an unnecessary part unless you're setting your heater up indoors and if you do, Raypak sells a more robust vent separately. By far this is the easiest heater to install and integrate with the Comp Pool and Aqualink computer management systems. I also feel the need to address some of the negative reviews for this product, namely that you are buying this product on-line at wholesale price. You assume the risk for it's installation. When I buy it from my supplier there is a mark-up and a warranty that extends to professional people who install these things professionally. If you don't check your pH in four years and you heat exchanger disintegrates Raypak shouldn't have to replace it because you're an idiot. The extra money you pay for a professional installation is the peace of mind you get from knowing the job was done right. ... show more
