  • Amazon delivered again - nicely done!
Size: 206,000 BTU
I've dealt with Amazon since its inception - but never had it deliver (in 2 days) something that cost a couple thousand dollars and was fragile. Well, CONGRATS to AMZN ... they did better than amazing. And the Raypak heater is simply amazing ... runs 50% more efficiently than my old one and takes half the time to heat the pool. WOW ... talk about: CHEAPER / BETTER / FASTER == ALL 3!!! ... show more

  • The Best
Size: 206,000 BTU
Having worked in the swimming pool business for over 13 years I can say this is the best heater you can buy. I've worked on many heaters including ones made by Teledyne Laars, Pentair, Sta-rite, Jandy, and Hayward. These are the reasons why I recommend this heater in my business: it has a simplistic, easy-to-work-on design with less wiring and moving parts. This is important because mice and insects destroy all of the heaters I mentioned at a faster rate. Raypak actually seals the computer board in a compartment that is almost impregnable. When something does go wrong the diagnosis is much simpler because there are fewer wires and parts. Frankly just about every other heater I work on is a complete nightmare in the wiring department. Over the years Raypak is the only company I've seen make meaningful changes to their product namely, protecting the delicate computer board and decreasing the size of the power supply. Furthermore, this is one of the only brands I've never seen catch on fire, because it is vented properly. Older Purex and Hayward heaters were notorious for burning up but luckily the wires would melt and shut the heater down so it never became an inferno. Newer Hayward and Sta-Rite heaters use a power vent, which is a cool idea although unnecessary for outdoor use. However these fans crap out all the time as mice seem to love them more than computer boards. It's just an unnecessary part unless you're setting your heater up indoors and if you do, Raypak sells a more robust vent separately. By far this is the easiest heater to install and integrate with the Comp Pool and Aqualink computer management systems. I also feel the need to address some of the negative reviews for this product, namely that you are buying this product on-line at wholesale price. You assume the risk for it's installation. When I buy it from my supplier there is a mark-up and a warranty that extends to professional people who install these things professionally. If you don't check your pH in four years and your heat exchanger disintegrates Raypak shouldn't have to replace it because you're an idiot. The extra money you pay for a professional installation is the peace of mind you get from knowing the job was done right. ... show more

  • JUNK JUNK JUNK
Size: 206,000 BTU
I purchased this heater in April of 16. 1 year in the heat exchanger failed and I was of-course told that it was our problem due to ph levels in the spa. I paid. Now the machine is completely rotted out and has failed again. JUNK! I would not take one from them for free! DO NOT BUY RAYPAK!!!

  • Garbage
Size: 206,000 BTU
This info is for anyone about to purchase a heater for their pool or hot tub. We installed a Raypak heater last August, to replace our heater that developed a leak after 7 years (non-Raypak). With less than 6 months of use, this one began to leak. The manufacturer denied warranty coverage, citing that pH of our water was too low; mind you, this is in a hot tub that we constantly forget to put any chlorine or other chemicals. When we wrote to them, asking if it was possible that this one was a lemon, this is the reply that we received from Christopher Cloutman, their southeastern rep: "Warranty on the heat exchanger of your pool heater is due to manufacturing defects not negligence or lack of knowledge on your part to maintain the proper water chemistry in your pool. Hi chlorine levels do not affect the heater but the tablets that you use in the chlorinator do and have a pH of 3 and constantly lower the pH and alkalinity levels of your water creating an acidic environment which dissolves the copper in the heat exchanger. I'm sure your pool looks great and is crystal clear, that's because it's so acidic nothing can live in it. Please, do not buy another Raypak heater." I can appreciate sarcasm as much as the next guy, and I know that there are more serious issues in the world than my pissing contest about a luxury item, but when you are screwing me out of my hard-earned $$ and then being snarky about it, beware. So, apparently the heater we purchased was not a lemon and reflects their quality standard. And, their customer service is top-notch as well. To quote an infamous sales rep, "please, do not buy another Raypak heater." ... show more

  • Do not buy a Raypak pool heater!
Size: 206,000 BTU
In the Swim is a good company so they deserve 5 stars, but Raypak is awful. Do not buy this piece of junk pool heater in any size. They will run you through the ringer on any legitimate warranty claim and their heat exchanger is a terrible design. If it fails, the entire heater is ruined inside. Just look at the ratings of their products on most stores/online and the BBB. My heater is shot after 2 years and my chemicals are in good condition and kept in balance, but they will use that as an excuse along with dry firing, which is funny because the heater should not operate unless the flow sensor detects the proper water flow. It's too bad because I had an old Raypak heater that ran for 15 years. I replaced it with this one and it ran 2 years with nothing but problems. Tells you how the quality changed from the older equipment to now. My unit is no better than scrap metal now and I will need to spend another 1500 to 2000 on a different, hopefully better brand. I won't go into how bad the local Raypak authorized service centers were, since that is dependent upon your area, but around me I found two different ones and they both had poor service and limited knowledge of the product. ... show more
