  • Life-changing wheelchair!!! It’s helped me return to life in the world around me!
Size: 12X-DS
I have a power wheelchair I use in my home but transporting it to other locations so I can go to the grocery or doctor appointments, etc is such a pain and requires a special trailer to haul which means only my husband can take me places with my chair. I needed a solution that would allow me to live with the same freedoms I have inside my home without requiring special transportation methods AND THIS CHAIR DID THAT FOR ME!!! Finding a chair that would support my weight (more than 250lbs) and still have the ability to fold small enough to fit in any trunk for easy transport while having a performance level high enough to allow me to have the mobility I need to be independent in any setting was something I didn’t think I would find until I found this chair. I was able to take it to the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee and navigate long distances, steep slopes, and hours of shopping in tight boutique spaces like I haven’t been able to do since before I became ill. Last month, I was able to take a trip to Costa Rica with my husband and thoroughly enjoy every activity I chose to take part in as though I had no mobility issues at all. I roamed the beaches, explored the jungle a little, and maneuvered my way on every type of ground you can imagine with no issues at all which was phenomenal. I was able to take my chair on every plane with me without having to remove the batteries or any other components. My husband simply folded it and the plane staff stored in an available opening and used the appropriate safety harnesses to ensure safe travel for my chair. We were able to take my chair with us IN THE PLANE’S CABIN on some flights and for the others, I rode in my chair to the plane door where I transferred to their chair for seating on the plane while my husband, once again, simply folded the chair and then the airport personnel took the chair down and loaded it last in a separate area beneath the plane. I was nervous about that because this chair is my lifeline and the only way I would be able to enjoy my trip as well as get home safely. They understood my concerns and were even willing to take a photo of my chair beneath the plane to show me that it was safely secured by itself and on the plane with me. Each time my chair was returned to me, it was in the same condition it had been in when it left me. The Delta people told me that they are specially trained to load chairs like this one on the plane beneath the cabin as well as in the cabin when room is available. I did have to make everyone with Delta aware when booking my flights that I had a flight-approved chair with a dry battery that met their requirements for flying. I’m not sure that I would’ve trusted any other airline to handle my chair based on my previous encounters with them but Delta truly had it under control and gave me great confidence in their ability to do as promised. I also placed an air tag in my chair where it could safely remain which allowed me to know with certainty that it was in the plane with me as we departed each airport which was helpful for my anxiety level. In traveling by air, I had to take my chair through the TSA security measures which was a new experience for me all around. TSA handled me and my chair with care and they were able to inspect it and me at every airport without me having to leave my chair at all. I did a pat down because of an implanted medical device that can’t go through metal detectors or scanners and then a wand was used on my chair while I sat in it. I had no issues at all with TSA and moved through the system just as quickly as I had when flying before I became ill. I did contact TSA through their website to confirm the process I would go through at each of the airports to be sure I was prepared and knew what to expect each time but that was just for my anxiety to be calmed. It truly wasn’t necessary for me to contact them in advance in order to have the experience I had with them. I also must say that the seller of this chair was VERY helpful in the early stages after receiving my chair when I was trying to get the necessary information together to book my tickets with Delta and make arrangements to keep my chair with me on the plane as explained above. I needed additional information about the batteries themselves to supply to Delta. I messaged the seller through Amazon and they immediately responded with the information I had requested. I had no issues at all with my communications with the seller and feel confident that they will be there for me should I need them again in the future. This chair has truly outperformed in every way! I sincerely put it to the test during my trips and it truly did everything with ease. The chair has sufficient battery life to handle every minute of use I put it through and switching between the two batteries while on the go is fairly simple for my husband to do without me even having to get out of the chair. Recharging the batteries is very simple too. Having this chair to get around in the world where my family and friends are and where I must go to handle regular life activities like appointments and grocery shopping and so on, has made everything easy for me to do and actually enjoy without putting an excessive burden on my family members because of my mobility issues. It’s nice to know that anyone can pick me up in any vehicle and transport me and my chair to any place I need or want to go. This chair truly is a lifeline for me and now goes everywhere I go. EVERYWHERE! I even gave him a name. My chair’s name is Wheelee and I love him!!!! Thank you EncareFor for making this chair and thank you Amazon for making it available to me and others like me who need a heavy duty chair that’s prepared and able to go anywhere I want to go! ... show more

  • WOW! What an awesome motorized wheelchair
Size: 12X-DS
Everyone that sees me in this chair is surprised at how amazing & wonderful it is. Great mobility. It turns on a dime. The chair is narrower than my manual chair. The 12 mile range with a 20 hour battery life at upto 3.8 MPH stuns people. It's performance makes it a dream machine. This was a gift to replace a manual wheelchair on a cruise. I HAD FANTASTIC MOBILITY. It was easy and fun to use. So many people on my cruise were actually jealous of my "Ride". Their scooters cost nearly as much to rent as my chair cost. They wanted to get one for themselves or a loved one. I LOVE MINE! ... show more

  • Controller has a huge lag time at high power levels and battery issues
Size: 12X-DS
I just got this chair but i am considering returning it. In the first time riding it, I almost got hurt several times due to controller issues. When going up a slight incline the motors started, then hesitated and even roll backwards a little before going again. When returning the joystick to center, it takes a good 2 seconds for the brakes to lock. Meanwhile the controller continues to execute the last position it was in before returning to center. I was taking it very slowly but still nearly drove me into a wall twice because it kept going after I centered (released) the stick. Driving on carpet is apparently equivalent to driving up hill because it stalls and starts again the same way. I will try using it for a day or so but this doesn't feel like a learning curve, it feels like a poorly behaved controller. Update June 11 2023: I need an easy to transport chair for use outside of my home. I have lower back nerve damage and cannot walk on my own. I was able to use this chair during a convention at a hotel. It has some significant issues but was useful in wide open spaces. It is difficult to maneuver on carpet because it stalls while turning at low power and is out of control at higher power levels. Maneuvering in spaces smaller than 4 feet wide can be an issue. It is generally difficult to maneuver at any speed accept on hard surfaces at the lowest setting, which doesn't have enough power to maneuver well up hill, or in grass or on carpet. Higher power settings tend to drive you into a wall or someone. However, on level, or near level paved surfaces, I could drive at high speed in straight lines without difficulty. It drags down significantly when turning. At low speeds I could drive easily on level surfaces and only had difficulty when trying to turn on carpet. Since I primarily need this chair for amusement parks and museums, I have decided to keep it. I ran it all day during the convention and only had to change batteries after about 8 hours. It wasn't dead but out of one red, two yellow and two green LEDS, it was down to the yellows. I have a better chair (Jet3 Ultra) for use in my home where maneuvering capability is essential. But at 300 lbs, that chair is not transportable without special equipment. I should mention that I had no trouble folding or unfolding the chair and picking it up to put it in the back of my van. Some folks will probably want help doing this. But I could have removed the batteries and made it even easier. Update 07/20/2023: Ok, I can definitely say that the controller issues are not user learning curve related. There is a terrible lag time to the steering. The higher the power level the worse it is. This is not the chair for you if you are looking for a home chair. This is only suited for the outdoors on hard paved surfaces on hard level ground without potholes. It will flip over if on an incline sideways or if it hits a pothole. If you have to go indoors keep the power level at the lowest setting. The lag time is far less pronounced. By Lag time, I mean the time between when the controller signals a movement and when the movement actually happens. Unfortunately, the lowest power is not good for going through a spring-loaded door or up any incline. Spring loaded doors push harder laterally than the motors can offset going straight. You will definitely hit the opposite side of the door frame and get stuck. Going down any incline is dangerous if it is not at least 5 feet wide. Even then, the motors will drive you sideways for no reason. The brakes do not engage until the motors come to a stop on their own. One small tap forward on the joystick will get you at least 5 feet of travel before the chair stops, and that is on a very slight incline. Be careful going downhill on a sidewalk or street. You need a wide path unobstructed. This chair is best for wide hallways like in a hotel, parking lots, auditoriums, sidewalks (if level and flat), amusement parks etc.. It is not good in narrow hallways, small rooms with narrow doorways, especially if guarded by a spring-loaded door, porch ramps (typically no more than 4 feet wide), up or down hill travel unless you have plenty of space for course corrections and stopping distance. I cannot emphasize enough the terrible controller time lag at higher power levels. The chair will divert sharply for no reason and stay that way for a good 3 seconds while you are desperately pushing the stick in the opposite direction then will do the same for the opposite direction. You have to stop and start over slowly, there is no correcting course in real time when it begins to fish tail. Update May 10, 2024: Took it on a cruise in January. Needless to say, the narrow hallways were a big issue. The canvas storage bag on the bottom of the chair got caught on everything and now I need a new one. Armrests pads are also destroyed due to hitting walls. Need to replace these parts. Does anyone know where I can get replacement parts or if the arm pads are a standard size? Update Dec 17, 2024: Battery design is poor. Fits on a track with a clip meant to hold it in place, except it doesn't. The battery continuously falls out of the chair. Since it is on the back, you can't see it fall. I have tried everything to keep it in place. Finally missed it falling out and now it is gone. To add insult to injury, this little weak $40 battery cost $350 to replace. If anyone has a work around I am ready to listen. Otherwise, I am an engineer and I will be creating a work around for any others out there who a retired of being ripped off for a poor quality battery. ... show more
