I bought this for my homelab to replace the A/V cart that's been threatening to crumble under all the weight. I was expecting passable quality, but it really exceeded my expectations. The frame is super sturdy and assembles very easily. Good fit and finish. The casters roll it around real smoothly as well. I fully recommend this rack for anyone looking for something in this size. Also I didn't realize that it would come with a pile of cage nuts and screws, so I had ordered a bunch separately, but I didn't need them. The rack comes with dozens of them. ... show more

    • Solidly built, good value, looks the part too.
Unlike some, I didn't find the instructions at all tricky - it's a very straightforward build in fact. My advice - don't do up any screws tightly until you have the whole rack assembled, then use a framing square to align it all and then snug them up fully. The powder coating is very good quality, hardware is good (M6 and M8 is a good thing in my view - if you only have old fashioned Imperial stuff then you should probably stick to steam engines and old cars...) and the accuracy of component machining was better than most network racks I've built. The forming of the main verticals leaves loads of room for cable routing, which is great. There's also enough room in the base horizontals to put power bricks for those devices which use them, keeping a nice neat progression from power conditioning and switching at the base, to fast switching and data management towards the top. There are also plenty of spare holes for custom bracketry to be bolted to, if you want to add a fixed monitor, for example. The only really minor niggles I have are:- Pop in some more cage nuts and bolts please - those are nice, but most of us are going to be racking up more than a couple of shelves and a 1U server, and I hate mixing hardware. Wheels - just go up one size please, and I'll use these racks for the next build. Those roll reasonably well, but are a bit small for the weight this rack is clearly capable of supporting. Bottom line? A very good rack for a decent price, with excellent powdercoating and well thought-out design. ... show more

    • Great product, abysmal assembly instructions!!!
SO, believe what you read in the other reviews- the instructions are absolutely garbage but the design/fabrication of this unit is great at this price point. Overall I am very happy with this product, the materials are all heavy gauge steel, the powder coating is pretty durable and is consistent on all components. Some things to watch for: 1.) The fabricator must have assumed watch-maker type precision with the post base/outrigger assembly, meaning that there is absolutely NO overhead on tolerance so you MUST loosely fit-up all screws before tightening ANYTHING. 2.) You will need an allen key (6mm I think) with a 1" right-angle tongue or a straight 4"+ long stem to reach through the outrigger to fit/tighten the horizontal screws on the post base 3.) The mounting flanges for the tower rails that are permanently attached to the stretchers that screw to the wheeled outriggers are asymmetric, meaning there is an "outside" and "inside" face on both the flanges and the posts (the square holes on the posts must face outward to properly install the cage nuts & rack shelves)- you may notice this on your own prior to assembly but if you don't and you attach the stretchers to the bottom outriggers with the "wrong" side out, you will wind up taking the thing apart as some, but not all of the holes will line up when you go to install the tower posts. 4.) You should use a nut driver for the rest of the post-attachment and cap hardware- the screws all come with philips head slots but they're a little soft and will strip out quickly if over-torqued with any electric tool assisted assembly 5.) The assembly instructions omit the use of the cage nuts to attach the included shelf slides- you want to use the cage nuts for this as the slide-mount holes on the posts are square- the included normal/hexagonal nuts & bolts will not have enough bearing at these locations without adding a fender washer to the nut side, but why would you want to go and buy extra hardware?? ... show more

I'm really happy with this rack, after struggle with makeshift wire shelves. For the same price, I had a wire wrack with 3 shelves, while this will accommodate much more, and more sturdily, with room for cable management. Once loaded up, it doesn't move, doesn't rack at all. This is not a con, but you should be aware that this thing is heavy. Putting it together by yourself would be very hard - the uprights are long and a bit ungainly to move around to get the top and bottom installed. It could have used a bit more in the way of assembly instructions, but we did get it figured out eventually. Some of the pieces are hard to tell apart based on the pictures, and while you can assemble it in pretty much any order, there's probably an optimized approach that would have saved me some trouble. Very sturdy heavy duty rack, does a great job of holding 200 pounds of server battery backups. However, it's quite a stretch to call this adjustable, as the bottom frame is not adjustable length. you'd trip over it if you built it shorter
