I liked the product. It takes care of watering while i am away and works well. The timer and connecting thru wi-fi and controlling it through the app is very useful and I liked it a lot. I have no complaints. The only one thing i found difficult was the first time setup, the user guide was very confusing, not clear and not complete for me, i had to search for videos in you tube to learn how to set it up and test. Do not buy this irrigation system. I repeat, do not buy this irrigation system. The RAINPOINT WiFi Automatic Watering System conceptually is a good idea. Unfortunately, there are so many problems with this product that it is inadvisable to purchase. First, the pump is very weak. I had the pump connected to 7 plants, one which required 4 drippers. Only the first two plants were watered. The plants downstream remained dry. Second, the system leaks. I used hot water to heat the ends of the hose during installation to insure tight connections. Nevertheless, water leaked between the hose and the dripper rather than from the dripper itself. The out port barb of the pump leaked as well. Because the hose barb is shielded in the pump housing, there is very little that can be done to resolve this issue. There are numerous reviews that mention the siphoning effect. That is, after the pump is turned off, water will continue to flow. In such instances flooding can occur. This problem is easily resolved using a one way inline valve (also known as a check valve). Before someone claims that the check valve impeded proper water flow through the system, the water flow problem existed before I installed the check valve. Connecting the pump to WiFi is straightforward and the app is straightforward as well after reading the information on the website. The manual is not very good with illustrative pictures too small to view necessary detail. It's really too bad that this device doesn't work, even marginally. The idea is great but I suspect the engineers who developed this system didn't test it extensively. ... show more

Leaving for extended travel, considered several options including paying a neighbor kid to water all of our two-dozen, large and small, houseplants. What I did was buy a $25 8’ plastic kiddy pool at a farm supply, set all of our houseplants in the cheap plastic pool, installed TWO of these devices each drawing water from its own 5gal plastic spackle bucket, and left them running for 3.5 weeks - watering for one minute once a day. I set up a video camera so that I could log in each day at the appropriate time and watch the convenient indicator lights on the devices. Both worked flawlessly. The plants were all in perfect health when we returned. Be warned that these little pumps are efficient and will drain your buckets quickly if you run them too long or too often. I did some tests and settled on 60 seconds once a day. The devices have batteries but I left mine plugged in to USB power plugs just to be sure. The tubing and watering pins worked better than I expected. My sense is that this product was designed and packaged by someone building a business for the longer run. I was half-expecting this to be a cheapo novelty product but was impressed overall. I carefully packaged and stored the entire setup to use for my next trip.
