Much better than the $30 generic brand you can get at Michaels. These are silly and rarely tangle. There's no fraying and the amount you get for the price is unbeatable. I love cross stitch but don't have the cash to sink into DMC, this is a great alternative given how many shades it comes with. The only odd thing I've noticed is that sometimes you'll get two different colors with the same color number wrapped around them.
