When looking for a timer/controller I wanted one that that had both a phone app and a fully functional control panel - not a lot of choices out there - but this gives both. Note though to get all the functionality out of this unit you need the wifi module and highly recommend the Rainbird Rain (and Temp) sensor. Wifi module lets you control from your phone and allows you to enable the automatic season adjust feature that will update watering time each day (i.e.duration not start/stop times) based on weather forecast (in your zip code). Season adjust works on the forecast and will adjust run times to a minimum of 5% of normal (will never bypass watering altogether - this is common with timers having this feature), so if it monsooned yesterday it will still water - this is why I recommend the Rain Sensor which will completely bypass watering until drier conditions exist. The built in panel is easy to use and read under most lighting conditions and is fairly intuitive. A reference card is included for the most commonly used functions. The phone app has saved me miles of walking to the timer mounted in the garage when adjusting/replacing sprinkler heads. It also provides status of your system and allows you to fine tune on the fly. Works well, easy to install. Would give it 5 stars if a handy booklet manual was included. Large, folded piece of paper with instructions doesn’t lend itself to convenient reference or storage next to the device.

Super fast 1 day delivery. I already had rain bird ESP old model and ordered this for wifi capability. Took about 30 mins to remove the old and hook up the new controller and setup in the app, super easy, did a test run this morning and everything works well. Will have to wait and see how it performs. ... show more

This timer is a dream to install and program.... 2 anchors inc/ an 110v outlet and it's mounted. EASY PEASY set-up put in time/date, how long for each zone, what time to start watering and turn to auto !! BAM !! FINISHED ..... It will do any combo of events and times you can dream up BUT you don't have to go through those hoops if you just want to water the grass .... EZ Hook up to your internet and water from anywhere/anytime you have internet service !! (optional but a nice feature) {Mine is a replacement for 1yr old still working brand X (hunter) too complicated to function !! } ... show more

    • Easy install and upgradable to wifi
I wanted a controller with front panel controls, but also upgradable to wifi control. This ESP-TM2 controller seems well made and was easy to replace my 30-year-old Rain Bird controller. Zone 1 had stopped working. After labeling wires and removing old controller, I measured each solenoid at about 50 ohms, neither short nor open. After installing new ESP-TM2 controller all zones work great. Also replaced old wireless rain sensor with new $20 wired sensor (part # CPRSDBEX). Then bought and installed the LNK2WIFI and used the app to remotely manage irrigation. The Rain Bird app initially had trouble installing and communicating, but after some fiddling now works great. If 10-20 years from now Rain Bird stops supporting their app, I still have the front panel controls. ... show more

    • Easy to install and runs perfectly
I'm extremely happy with this purchase. It was very easy to install and has worked perfectly since I installed it about 8 months ago. It's easy to program or run manually. I do have the WiFi adapter thing on it and that works well.
