I bought this retro handheld console for my son and it quickly became one of his favorite gifts. He was excited right away and loved exploring all the classic games available. I enjoyed seeing him discover games that I remember playing when I was younger. The console feels solid in the hands and seems durable enough for a child to use regularly. My son finds it easy to turn on and start playing without needing much help. It has been great for keeping him entertained during car rides and quiet time at home. The controls are comfortable and responsive which helps him enjoy longer play sessions. I appreciate that it brings a wide variety of games in one device instead of swapping cartridges. I didn't have super high expectations for this unit since there are about 30 companies advertising almost the identical unit loaded with similar ROMs. I chose the R36MAX for it's larger 4" screen compared to the other competitor's 3.5 inch screen. The hardware looks nice, but is VERY cheap and plastic when in hand. My unit actually rattles if you shake it slightly. I don't know if that's loose buttons or something came free inside. The system booted up just fine, but is complicated to operate. There is a built in user manual, which is nice, but a LOT of button combos to memorize in order to do anything. Used regularly this may be OK, but this isn't something to play for a bit, put away for a while and immediately are productive when you pick it up again. Just getting the games to start was a challenge as it's not obvious what buttons to push. The big problem I had was playability. I tried 10 random games to see how the system worked. 3 would load then crash once started. 2 wouldn't load at all. 2 loaded but were sideways on the screen (couldn't figure out how to undo that), and 3 worked just fine. A 30% success rate isn't going to work for me. If you google the system, there are instructions on how to wipe it, install a more stable OS, and suggestions to redownload all the games. No thanks. I don't want to put that much time into it. The unit isn't worth the headache.

So far this thing has worked flawlessly, it is packed with some of my favorite games of all time. I was happily surprised with the quality of the included protective pouch that it came with. The large screen looks beautiful, the buttons had a good clicky feel and work perfectly. The home screen and navigation is very easy to use to find what games I am looking for. I have not taken it on any trips yet, but I'm looking forward to playing for hours on this thing.

I picked up the R36MAX mainly for nostalgia, and it didn’t disappoint. The 4 inch screen is surprisingly sharp and bright, and the classic games look clean and colorful. The size is comfortable to hold, even during longer gaming sessions. Having so many classic games preloaded is a big plus. There’s a lot of variety, and it brought back memories of games I hadn’t played in years. Moreover, Battery life has been solid so far and easily lasts through several hours of play. It’s lightweight, portable, and great for travel or quick gaming breaks. Overall, great retro handheld for the price and a fun way to revisit classic games anytime.

I’ve currently had this system for 2 weeks, and I have logged over 50 hours on it. I have had no problems, the games have looked and ran great. I have mainly played gameboy advanced, and sega genesis games on it so far. Tried out one N64 game, and it worked, but the sega dreamcast game I tried would not run. The console itself is what you expect for the money: buttons rattle a little, cheap plastic parts. But it runs well, and as long as you take care of it, it should last. Figuring out the system and the different button combinations for working the system takes a little time, but in game controls are the same as the old ones that I’ve played. Overall, I consider this a good deal for $70, but if you can find one cheaper elsewhere, go for it.

This retro console is perfect! I bought this as a gift for my spouse and he was hooked as he turned it on, bonus was that it came 90% charged so he didn't have to wait to try it out. I have since captured it to play Mario Cart and it was so fun getting to play these old games. It has a good battery life so far. The blue color I got was beautiful. So far one or two games have been in black and white but otherwise the quality of the games have been really good. Recommend this 10/10!! Full disclosure : I bought another one from another seller and it could not even turn on so I can attest this one is real and works well!
