I’ve been running Callahan brake kits on all my cars/trucks for years but they didn’t offer a kit for the 2012 veloster, so I ordered this kit. The black coating is sharp (comes off the rotor surface after the first drive but the hub and fin areas stay coated- makes kind of a mess but the pads bed in quickly) The car stops great now and the rotors look good still too. Well, I chose this brake kit because of the overall value and so far, I'm impressed. The rotors have a pretty good set of features that ensure great performance. The pads seem like typical ceramics, but they are well crafted. I only use ceramic brakes on my vehicles, so the fact that they're included saved me from having to purchase upgraded pads separately. The installation went great. All parts fit perfectly. After bleeding brake lines and doing a test drive and wear in, I immediately noticed the increased stopping power and performance. I did have an issue with the delivery though. The kit came without the brake hardware in the box. I made a call to customer support, since the description says they were supposed to be included, and they shipped them right away. The guy I spoke with was friendly, helpful and understanding, so no complaints here. Other than having to wait another few days. I purchased 2 weeks before I planned on doing the install, so I was ok with waiting the few days. Its been a couple weeks now and the brakes are still performing well. I've been driving very aggressively and they continue to impress. I definitely give R1 Concepts my seal of approval. Great product, great price, great service. ... show more

I was skeptical about ordering brake kits for cars because of bad experiences from previous cars that I work on. The brake kits didn’t have the right shims and sometimes the brake pads are a little bit bigger than the original one. I gambled getting this brake kits because it looks good from the picture and the price is reasonable comparing to buying it at an auto parts store and they don’t sell cross drilled rotors and I came across of this R1 concept. I received the parts and to my surprise, all the necessary hardware are just the same as the OEM. They fit perfectly. I highly recommend them because before they ship it, they send you an email to confirm what type of vehicle in order for them to send you the right fitment for your vehicle. I’ve been driving it for a few days now and the stopping is way better than the original brakes. It has a better stopping power. And it doesn’t heat up my rotor because of the cross drilled. They aren't brembos but they get the job done for the price point fits my 2013 Subaru wrx sedan just fine,thou they are a bit noisy with the included pads until warmed up.

Needed a set of brakes to give my subaru a little upgrade and a set that wouldn’t vibrate after 300 miles like previously. This kit blew my mind for the price ! Car stops a lot better now and don’t have anymore vibrations when applying the brakes. And gave the car a nice look. Definitely worth it

    • Never Rec'd the correct parts! R1 kept insisting they were!

I can't say anything about the parts as I never got the correct parts. Wrong parts happen. It is what you do after that matters. I ordered the parts for my application, I even contacted R1 to verify the parts, Parts came in, I made an appointment with the tech. Unfortunately , the parts were wrong. The pads were wrong, the rotors were wrong. I contacted R1. Instead of sending out the correct parts, they asked me for the part numbers of the parts I rec'd. They insisted the parts where correct. They asked me several times for the part numbers of the parts. Several times I sent R1 the part numbers. There was no response from R1 on this. 30+ e-mails later I sent them pictures of the parts that came out, and what R1 wanted me to hammer in. Again they asked me for the part numbers of what was in the box. No effort on behalf of R1 to send out the correct parts. All this time, my car sits without brakes. I finally called and spoke with Luis- he had it together. Again, I was asked for the part numbers. Luis agreed that the parts were wrong and sent me a return label. In the mean time I am still getting asked for the part numbers through e-mails. All I received was apologies, but no parts. I have no idea if the brakes were any good as I never received the correct parts. Only thing I know is that R1 Concepts dropped the ball big-time and refused to pick it up.
