I bought this house and it needs serious updating. This saved me so much time and money. I put it up on a few painted bricks and it fits perfectly. The remote does suck, it needs to be aimed perfectly or it doesn't work which isn't a problem for me. The heater isn't bad, but don't think it's going to heat the whole floor. It may do a 2 or 300 sqft room. I do recommend a dedicated 20A outlet for this if you plan on using the heater. ... show more

I bought the 39" version of this fireplace and I have to say that I'm a bit disappointed. In the listing images, it clearly shows several different color flames at the same time. This is an incorrect visual description of this fireplace as the flames can only be one of 4 colors at any given time. Similarly, the logs can only be one of 3 colors (they list red twice) at a time. Still, not a huge deal, just inaccurate. There's definitely some sort of deformed film inside that's casting weird reflections of my room. I'm hoping this can be fairly easily remedied by taking it apart and removing/readjusting whatever film it is, but I just haven't done it yet. The remote is pretty much useless and is spotty at best. I resort to using the buttons on the actual unit for anything other than just turning it on/off. After being on for a handful of minutes, the motor mechanism can get a little noisy. Not too bad, but enough that I start to wonder if there's a bug buzzing around the house or something. A bit of a nitpick, but I wish the flames were taller and went higher up in the fireplace as they seem kinda short. Overall, it's 'fine'... I guess. I'm not steaming mad and looking to return it immediately, but if I were to do it again, I would keep looking for a better unit. ... show more

I wanted to love this heater but I'm a bit disappointed by its overall quality. I built my husband a faux fireplace surround for Christmas and wanted to include a faux flame heater insert to make its overall appearance feel more authentic. This unit was cost effective, in that you could spend 3-4 times as much on a similar style freestanding insert that is this size. However, I feel like this unit was underwhelming in its performance. The insert doesn't have crackling sounds to accompany the flames; something that may have been overlooked if it wasn't for the running sound it makes. The flames are adjustable in color and brightness, as are the logs, but the product photo shown is misleading. The flames are not multi colored (ie: orange and blue present simultaniously); rather, they display themselves monocromatically in each individual color setting. The "brick" backdrop paper on my unit is slightly crooked and the white back side of it is visible along the edges where the brick meets the glass. I can't speak to its effectiveness at heating our livingroom as we have children and the heating output (located along the top of the face of the heater) apparently gets hot to the touch... an issue I was surprised by, as almost all heaters I have owned in the last 10 years have had safety features to prevent their exterior from getting hot. This unit was large enough for my fireplace and much less expensive than the other units I shopped out; but if I had to do it over again, I would have saved my money and bought one of the more expensive units from another brand. I decided to give this unit 3 stars but if I could give it a 2.5 I would. 1 star for cost, 1 star for the visual appearance (once installed) and .5 star for the packaging and ease of installation... really the appearance was more than underwhelming until I got it into the surround I had constructed. This insert needs a surround to make it seem more legit, without one I think it would just feel too flat. ... show more
