Color: Regatta Blue
This my third time purchasing this product. This is not something to be banged around. It does indeed take some TLC to open and close. That said, It is not impossible to get many years of service from it. It is made to be light weight and collapse into a smaller manageable size (In fact, the case is a quite sturdy backpack). To do this each leg is three segments instead of two and is a lighter metal than other pop up canopies. Because of this each of the lightweight legs have to be extended and locked, as well as retracted, gently and best if you work out a system. The first one I owned I bought from Dick's and I destroyed it the same day by merely closing it up. Since all canopies can get bent and this was the only canopy that will fit in a trailer I pull behind my motorcycle, I had purchased their protection plan and had it replaced under warranty. When I bought it at Dick's it was $95! so that was money well spent. I am l glad this can be had for much less now! The second one I have used for the last 5 years without issue until it met it's demise in a surprise microburst. I use it as sun and rain shade as track marshal for car and motorcycle races as well as 3-day eventing horse trials. It has been a great lightweight pop-up and my peers prefer it over their own larger, heavier canopies. Three things to know, after knowing it needs to been opened and closed gently: If you feel it bind in any way, do not force it. Just gently wiggle a bit, see what is binding and slowly work out the issue. Sometimes the only issue is that if you pull on one side, the force is not evenly sent all around to the other ends of the canopy. All that is needed is to slow down and/or to observe that all the legs are able to move freely and evenly when expanding or retracting. Sometimes even grabbing two opposite legs and ensuring both operate evenly - NEVER force anything - and you will get many years of use. Second, it is not tall. I am 5'8" and I can stand under the point of it but not see out. Perfect if you use it to sit under, not so great as, say, a canopy over your market stand. Third, be prepared to roll up and secure the side flap. It cannot be detached and if you don't need it it needs to be secured, not just rolled up. ... show more

  • Short lifespan
Color: charcoal
We had bought this tent to use during our sons flag football games. It definitely served its purpose when it came to sun protection, especially with the added sun wall. We liked the fact that it had vent space around the top half of the tent to allow air flow as well. It was the perfect size and easy to carry anywhere with the backpack straps attached to its storage bag. However, when it comes to sturdiness, it didn’t hold up. When you’re setting it up, you can feel how light weight it is. Honestly, something told me it wouldn’t last us very long, but we only used it once a week for a few hours on game day. We happened to open it up in the yard one day, for some extra shade while the kids were playing soccer outside. One of the kids kicked the ball (from at least 30 feet away) and it went straight into one of the tent legs. The leg was dented enough that we couldn’t collapse it properly when it came time to put it away. Eventually when we tried to use it again, the leg snapped off and that was it. We had to trash it. We barely had this tent for 2 months before this happened. So if you’re looking for a simple little tent to use that’s easy to pack/carry/set up, and is needed to provide quick and easy sun protection for a small group of people…then this is it. Just know that it’s not meant for anything heavy duty, and it may or may not last for a long time. ... show more

  • Terrific Little Pop-Up
Color: Regatta Blue
Came on time and as described in the information. Pretty handy dandy little pop up! It's short- but not too short. I'm 5'4" (a giant), and I can stand up in it after tucking my head to enter. We've put 4 adult folding chairs, a large cooler, and backpacks in there and it all fits. Sitting under the canopy isn't an issue at all. It's easy enough to set up, take down, and carry by yourself, super easy if you have a friend or two. Lightweight enough for an 8 year old to help carry to/from the car. Lightweight enough to turn while completely set up (because, I *am* a delicate flower and must have shade!). Adjustable (to a point) telescopic poles can make this very very short or as is in the photo, or 2 and 2 for a very tilted shade, which to be honest is a tad unstable, but still works in the right conditions, like a sandy beach. The framework on the top is also useful in that it can be utilized to hang lightweight items from hooks or hangers - like net/mesh bags to hold sunglasses, etc. and keep them out of the sand, or a lightweight solar lamp for the evening. If you set this up in a windy condition, be aware that it can F L Y. So use your head and realize that strong wind is not your friend. I would recommend this to anyone and if we still have a multitude of people living at home, I'd buy a few more. This could be a cool addition to a graduation, wedding gift, birthday for someone who enjoys the beach, camping, or who just needs it? Toss in a few beach towels and sunscreen and it'd be a cool unexpected gift! Bottom line: The only reason this didn't get a 5 star rating is the height, it's fine for me, but my husband wishes it were just a few inches taller so he didn't have to stoop to get into it. ... show more
