Introducing the The Ekko Platform Bed that adds a clean and modern touch to your bedroom with it's "floating bed" appearance. This bed frame features a slat spacing of 3 inches or less - perfect for most memory foam or latex mattresses - and a platform height of 10 inches. Like all of our bed frames, the Ekko can support up to 600 pounds. All of our products are crafted from smooth, unfinished Tulip Poplar. Our eco-friendly bed frames use kiln-dried wood harvested in the mountains in Virginia. We are located in Athens, Georgia and can proudly say that our products are made in the USA. ABOUT TULIP POPLAR: Tulip Poplar is a beautiful hardwood species that can have some slight coloration in parts of the tree. We make every attempt to preserve the prettiest wood for the parts of our frames that show. However, in an effort not to waste perfectly sound poplar, some pieces of the frame will reflect this coloration. We use these pieces in parts of the frame that ultimately will be hidden - such as bed slats. Any green tint in the wood will change to light brown after several weeks.

This frame is really well-designed and can be assembled by one person in about an hour. Instructions are easy to follow. I ended up needing just a hammer and screwdriver, though a power drill would have been easier. The wood is a pale, almost grayish color that’s quite neutral. I did not stain it but it would be easy to do prior to assembly. I am currently using this as a frame for a tatami mat and Japanese futon. So far it works great and the slats are sufficiently close together to support this kind of setup. Note that it is very low to the ground, so your bedding may touch the floor if you are using something thinner than a conventional mattress. I love how it looks, and I love that it’s made in America from sustainable materials. Excellent value. ... show more

It is beautifully made, easy to assemble. I did it alone, took me about an hour and half. It would be easier if you had a second pair of hands, but I didn’t want to wait. I am using the bed, like a day bed. The Ekko fit in the corner perfectly. It is low profile, my mattress is 13” , so together it makes for the perfect sitting height. The only thing that’s a little frustrating, when you tuck your sheets under the mattress, they come thru the slots of the bed ! I placed a piece of cardboard under the foot of the mattress, that prevents the sheet from dropping thru. Definitely not a deal breaker, I would only take a 1/2 star off if I could. Feels good to support a product that is Made in the USA ... show more

the wood pieces were smooth and fit when assembled. the kit was a little challenging to assemble but worked. the pre-drilled screw holes were not centered but they did not split out.

The bed looks nice and so far no squeaks. It took 2 days to put together due to 2 holes not lining up with 2 dowels. Finally got frustrated enough to remove the dowels and just screw that part of the frame down.

This is a high quality bed in a box DIY kit, which is to say you need some basic DIY skills to assemble. While the box includes all the necessary hardware, I recommend purchasing additional screws to fasten all the slats to the platform base, use of wood glue on all dowel joints, and the use of minwax finishing paste on all wood on wood contact points between the platforms and the legs.
