This mattress combines individually pocketed springs with comfort layers and lands in that medium-firm range that gives support without feeling like a padded board. The queen size expanded into a normal full-size bed once unboxed, and the 12-inch profile gives it a substantial look on a standard frame. For a mattress-in-a-box setup, it feels much more traditional than the compressed package initially suggests. The pocket spring construction is the feature I noticed most during use. Each spring works more independently than an old interconnected coil system, so movement on one side does not travel across the whole mattress quite as enthusiastically. That helps if two people share the bed and one of them treats rolling over like an Olympic event. The support also feels more even through the hips and shoulders than a very soft all-foam mattress. Comfort is balanced rather than plush, which works well for me. The top has enough cushioning to relieve pressure without letting me sink so deeply that changing position becomes a small excavation project. Breathability is another advantage of the hybrid design because the spring core leaves more room for airflow than a dense block of foam. Hot sleepers may appreciate that, although bedding, room temperature, and mattress protectors still play a big part in how warm any bed feels. Setup is simple, but I would give the mattress time to expand before judging the final height and firmness. Cutting away the plastic is easy enough, just keep sharp tools away from the fabric because accidentally opening the mattress along with the packaging would be an impressive first impression. There can also be some initial packaging odor, which is common with compressed mattresses and usually benefits from ventilation. I set it up in the room where it would stay because moving an expanded queen mattress is considerably less entertaining than moving the box. For the price, the combination of pocket springs, medium-firm support, breathable construction, and a full 12-inch profile gives this mattress a lot of practical appeal. It is not the choice for someone who wants an extremely soft pillow-top feel or a very hard sleep surface, but it sits nicely in the middle for general use. After using this 12-inch queen-size mattress for a couple of months, I can honestly say I’m very impressed with how comfortable it is, especially for the price point and the fact that it comes compressed in a box. It has just the right amount of firmness for me and has held its shape without sinking. The individually wrapped coils are a great feature because they help minimize motion transfer, so you don’t really feel the other person moving around like you can with a traditional mattress. It does arrive rolled up in a box, but the setup is super simple. Just unpack it, let it expand for up to 72 hours, and it’s ready to use. This is honestly an extremely comfortable mattress and is easy to set up. It has a nice firmness and gives great support and I’ve had it almost 4 months now.. I wanted to give it a little bit of time before I did the review to see if any changes occurred and so far it’s just like it was when I took it out of the box. I will give one word of warning because I didn’t quite pay attention to all the instructions and that was my fault. When you are opening this mattress be extremely cautious because if you open it too quickly, it will spring up into the air… Literally into the air, and could do some damage as well as hurt someone. I had that happen because I opened the plastic too quickly and that mattress sprung up about 4 feet off the ground, hit me in the face and knocked me into the drywall. Again… My fault… No one else’s. I did purchase a second mattress, and the trick is to open the plastic just about three or 4 inches and let the mattress slowly expand. Flatten it on the ground first and then open that plastic very slowly… you’ll hear and see it expanding. Once it looks like it’s almost fully expanded, then cut the plastic off of it. Trust me, do this! Fortunately, I wasn’t badly hurt. I have to say it was shocking at how far that thing flew up off the ground and it’s not a lightweight mattress In closing, I do want to say that I love this mattress and would buy another one hands-down in the future! This is a high quality mattress that delivers excellent value for a budget price. It provides true medium-firm support, meaning you won't sink into it the way you would with a soft, all-foam mattress. Coming from a traditional foam mattress, this feel doesn't register as foam at all, it has the structured response of a standard coil spring mattress. While the overall feel is quite firm, the built-in pillowtop layer adds a welcome layer of surface cushion. A few practical details to keep in mind before buying: -Single-Sided Design: Due to the top plush layer and the rougher, durable non-slip material on the bottom, this mattress cannot be flipped to extend wear over time. Rotating it head-to-toe is an option, though, to help maintain even wear. -Frame Setup: Rather than using a bulky box spring, pairing it with a thin mattress support board on a slatted frame works exceptionally well and keeps the overall profile low. -Unboxing & Off-Gassing: It arrives tightly vacuum-sealed, and once unboxed, there is no realistic way to compress it back down into its original packaging. However, expansion is fast. While the instructions recommend waiting 72 hours, I would guess that it reaches close to 95% of its full height within the first hour. Unlike many bed-in-a-box options, chemical off-gassing odor was quite mild upon opening and faded relatively quickly. ... show more
