  • Easy, reliable and an incredible value. QIDI FTW! Easy, reliable and an incredible value. QIDI FTW!
Color: Q2/Q2C
Wish I bought this sooner! I am on my second QIDI printer (first the Q1 Pro, then "upgraded" to the Q2) and have been consistently impressed with the quality of products coming out of QIDI and the QIDI Box Multi-Color 3D Printing System is no exception; I just wish I had bought it sooner! Set up was relatively simple, a few parts to swap out but the instructions were practical enough and thought it was nice they include the factory made riser (many users have printed their own but this one is nicer I think). The cables, PTFE tubes etc were all pretty self explanatory. The only slight snag was how to get the printer to recognize the box. A few power cycles of each piece of equipment and it seemed to find it and initialize by itself; I don't think I saw where and how to do that spelled out in the literature. I think like many QIDI products it aims at the slightly more mechanically inclined DIYer than say a Bambu product which aims at the total neophyte, but none of it was difficult by any means. Any awkwardness I encountered was soley my own doing as I was too anxious to set it up and didn't want too other reorganizing and rearranging my printer setup, that's why it is off the the side and not on top of my printer. Tubes and cables were long enough though so if you wondered if you could do it, you can! Now on to the unit itself; it is great! In my own use case I don't do much multicolor printing and if I do, I try to design the part to allow for a simple filament swap at a given layer height (contracting etc for example) And I haven't started multimaterial printing (i9n a single print), but my main use of the Qidi box is having multiple, dry(!) filaments on hand and ready to go, A few PLA spools, a PETG and a TPU 95A (which I currently have in the box although some prefer to have it on the external "rack" spool. I haven't noticed any issues loading so far YMMV). The fact that I can have backup second spool of filament for extra along prints or those that are trying to use up a light spool and automatically pick up from the new spool is great and should lessen the slight layer shifts you get when there is a prolonged delay between switching spools and the part can cool and move. Also the fact that my own printer isn't inside my house (I take advantage of the WIFI and the ethernet connectivity of the printer) it saves me from walking outside to my workshop to switch filaments etc. I put a lot of faith in the box for my first print on it. 12 hour print, overnight, and 400g but I just sent it and voila the next morning I found a perfectly printed Sunlu Matte PETG "Hot Tub Tray" I designed and made for a friend. With big flat surfaces, continuity of printing was key for a good surface finish and the Box gave me that piece of mind it wouldn't be interrupted. I think for its price this is the best multimaterial/multispool/multicolor filament management system out there. The fact it handles abrasive materials (E.g. GF, CF and Glow in the Dark) AND can dry while it prints sets it far apart from the competition which already cost more. If you already have a compatible QIDI printer, do yourself a favor and get this box. ... show more

  • Wait until QIDI fixes the issues, only disappointment with this current multi-color/filament box.
Color: Q2/Q2C
I was so happy when I first got this Multi color/filament printing box, everything about the printer itself was improved, until filament got jammed in the QIDI box extruder, I will warn you now this will turn into a nightmare for you the first time your filament gets jammed, It happens, it happens with every printer I have ever used, but it's usually fairly easy to fix, not true with the QIDI box. To get to jammed filament you will need to take the entire box apart. I currently have my box sitting on the floor getting ready to be taken apart for the second time to remove jammed filament. QIDI needs to redesign the box, all they needed to do was make the extruders easy to remove, nope, you have to disassembly it all it feels like the box is a prototype, just not ready for public release. When the box does function correctly and you are printing more than one color or type of filament plan on an equal amount of wasted filament as the print itself, sometimes more if you are using 3 or 4 colors/filaments. This should be possible to fix with the correct software, yes the print would take longer but it wouldn't waste so much filament. The box is capable of retracting the filament, which means the only waste would need to be what is currently in the nozzle, The software could recognize a color change coming up and switch accordingly, it doesn't, it just wastes everything in the PTFE tube. This adds up quick, and can end up costing you a lot if you use expensive filaments. I personally never do multicolored prints anymore do to the amount of waste. Also, and this could just be that my box has an issue, is that it is supposed to be able to read built in NFC chips in QIDI filament's so the box can inform the printer what type of filament is in each slot, this has never worked for me, but its not a big deal since you can easily enter the information directly at the printer or in the QIDI software. Be prepared for some disappointment, or wait for QIDI to release a multi-color box that works correctly. ... show more

  • Qidi nailed it! Integrates flawlessly, works amazing! Qidi nailed it! Integrates flawlessly, works amazing!
Color: Q2/Q2C
I bought the Q2 first, was so impressed by it, I went ahead and expanded it with the qidi box, so glad I did! Comes with simple illustrated step by step instructions,I was printing in multicolor in less then 10 minutes. First print is a 4 color fidget printed on standard .2 layer height and a .4 nozzle and unaltered factory pla preset. The q2 and qidi box nailed it! Perfect print! Even the wipe tower was flawless 😅. Ive ran 5 multi color prints since printing the 1st one and its still working perfectly. I own a h2c, x1c, q1 and a ender, I've experienced tributes and trials throughout the years, and a good understanding now of technical advances and processes of 3d printing/printers and i can honestly say with a unbiased multibrand owners opinion the q2/box combo is top notch. ... show more

  • Works flawlessly! Works flawlessly!
Color: Q2/Q2C
I read lots of mixed reviews about the Qidi box. After lots of research, it does appear that the issues have been addressed. Early units had problems, but these new units solve these issues. I don’t print lots of multi color prints, I do however print with engineering and like the drying feature and auto change of filament when a roll runs out. My first color print ever went very smoothly and looks great. No issues whatsoever so ever and no failures. I love this addition to my q2!!! ... show more

  • Fails to load and change filament, did I get a dud or are these not ready for prime time?
Color: Q2/Q2C
My QIDI Q2 is outstanding! I was excited to try out the Qidi box with it. Bought one brand new and when it arrived I hooked it and thought I was in for an adventure and that they had worked out the previous issues that people complain about. Well it was a nightmare because they haven't! I had to baby sit loading filament because it seems like the gears just don't drive the filament rolls. And no I wasn't using cardboard filament rolls, I knew these don't like cardboard. Never was able to get a multi color print to work because every time it would change colors the filament would not roll up back onto the roll and ended up all tanged up in the top of the box. So I look online and see all kinds of stuff you print yourself and try. But then after talking to someone else who has a couple of these Qidi boxes... they are having the same issues with the rolls not winding back up. I went through the setup and setup videos 3 times and made sure the firmware was up to date... and the printer works great without the box. I want to print stuff, NOT trouble shoot and add parts to something that's brand new and should work right out of the box. I've wasted 2 days and have come to the conclusion that this either shouldn't have passed QC... Or it just isn't ready for prime time. Buyers shouldn't have to be installing extra stuff to make your product work! Returning for a replacement in hopes that there was just something wrong with this box. ... show more

  • Clogs easy
Color: Q2/Q2C
I like the box because it opens my q2 to multi color print. However, uv had to open this up twice due to clogs and once to replace a hose that the filament some how cut through. It's not eat to get to the gears to untangle the filament, I've got extra practice and have decided to not use half the screws they used for easier access later... ... show more

Really good product, easy to unbox and so easy to install too, if you ran parts with multiple color this product it’s perfect for you, came with everything to startup with your printer, I’m already thinking to get more boxes to ran 8 different colors, I will keep posted for any issues, but so far I got it running without stop, no issues at all ... show more

  • Nice Multimaterial box Nice Multimaterial box
Color: Q2/Q2C
Once fully set up, it works well. However, the PTFE tube that came with it had a kink in it, so I had to replace it with my own (which the kink could have been my fault too). Other than that, the box works amazing and is a great add on. I have been able to do multicolor prints as well as run engineering filaments through it ... show more
