This is a product review and Pyle makes sturdy equipment which I why I purchased this stand. It's very similar to the stands my band uses for our PA monitors. The boom arm can be used or not depending on your preference. The stand is NOT lightweight. It's heavy duty and the tripod legs can be width adjusted to suit your needs. Unfortunately, the Amazon drive delivered me a box with two holes in it. The tightening screw that secures the boom arm onto the stand was protruding. And there was another hole down toward the bottom of the box. When I opened the box, found the boom arm had been scuffed badly enough in two places so that the paint had been removed. Because I need this stand for three upcoming gigs, beginning tomorrow, I didn't have time to mess around with the return process. I've purchased many items from Amazon and never had a delivery issue. I called Customer Service, yelled at the automated system until it put me through to a REAL person and explained the problem. The rep was very helpful and worked quickly to resolve the issue. TY Amazon rep...wherever you are. My only complaint is that the stand doesn't come with any clips to hold the mic cable in place. Since the diameter is larger than normal stands, my other ones won't fit. Would be nice if Pyle included 2 or 3 like everyone else.

If you are doing receiver calibrations with Dirac, audysse or whatever. This will hold your umik-1 in place to complete the setup. Good stuff.

Have not used the boom, but this stand was exactly what I was looking for to mount my Peavey Impulse monitor to. Well built and plenty of support with good but not an excessive amount of weight. Stand is 5 stars but gave it 4 because of not using the boom, although it looks decent enough just haven't tried it.

Me being a tall person it was great to have this mic stand get to proper height whenever I'm standing up and doing interviews or podcasts..I was having a hard time finding a proper mic stand but this solved the problem..it's built sturdy too

After much research I got Samson Mk-10. But it didn’t hold My Audio-Technica AT2035 condenser microphone properly. It was prone to tipping over and the boom arm was too short of my requirement. So I returned it and got this Pyle Heavy Duty Microphone Stand. I ordered this mainly because of it sold base and its lengthy boom arm (29.5) My requirement was to play digital piano and record vocal from condenser mic. So I needed a long boom arm with sturdy base. Pyle was the perfect choice for that. I kept the Pyle stand on the extreme left side of the piano and extended (80%) the boom arm till the middle C of my piano. Then attached the condenser mic and tightened the boom arm knob in 40 degree angle. To my surprise the boom arm didn’t hold my microphone in 40 degree angle. It slowly started sliding down to 180 degree. I tightened the boom arm locking knob multiple times but it didn’t work. Then finally I added counter weight (my tools bag) on the extreme left and it did the magic. Verdict 1. Perfect choice if you would like to attach dynamic mic 2. Perfect choice if you would like to attach condenser mic with boom arm extended to the max of 50%. If you extend the boom beyond 50% you need a counter weight. 3. For this price you cannot get a good microphone with solid base. Likes 1. Solid base 2. Base locking knob 3. Price Dislikes 1. No cable rings 2. Poor boom arm locking knob 3. Plastic covering on one side of the boom came off on the first day itself. It is not glued properly. 4. No option to add counter weight.

The stand base is amazing and I love the height and the ability to mount accessories! The boom is holding great with shure sm57's and 58's and EV PL80's, but the grip disks are not textured (as others have noted), so I'll keep an eye on that as we use this further.
