I drive a bus for my local senior center and transport seniors, handicap and special needs individuals. I bought it to hold the tablet that has my itinerary for the day. Because the vehicle is obviously moving the holder also moved so I had to use a zip tie to secure it so I wish it was easier to lock it into a desired location. This review is for PUTORSEN Laptop Pole Mount Tray,Universal Full Motion Laptop Arm Laptop Holder Arm with Removable 75mm and 100mm VESA Plate,Fit 12 to 18 inch Laptops, Black This is a dual purpose laptop/display holder that uses an articulating arm attached to a 1.1" to 2.4" round pole. Pole is not part of this item. Assembly is quite easy and an appropriately sized Allen wrench is provided for assembly and later adjustments. The only other tool needed is a Phillips screwdriver. I used this for a 17" workstation type laptop that weighs 7 pounds. The laptop is fairly well retained by the two side clamps and the bottom lip. While there is some flex when resting one's hands on the keyboard, it feels stable and does not affect typing. The arm has three pivot points allowing rotation on the horizontal axis and another pivot that allows tilting the laptop in the vertical axis. It has all of the adjustments that are needed for most applications. The lower lip has a rubber pad to prevent damage to the laptop finish. Two cable ties and a plastic bracket attached to the articulating arm allow power and other cabled coming to the laptop to be managed. The side retention brackets can be positioned anywhere along the edges to make cable entry to the laptop easy. The holes in the side retainers can be used to pass cables through. I had a very minor issue with the lower lip that keeps the laptop from sliding off the bottom of the shelf. It is slightly too short for my very thick laptop with a slanted lower edge. The laptop is secure, but the lip could be 3/16" higher, but that might be too tall for thin laptops. So far, I am really liking this laptop mount that gets it off my desk and lets me position the screen where iI need it. Recommended.

Not sure how i can install this without the pole that attaches to the desk, so I can't really use it. It would be nice if that was more clear-mount only, no pole. Also, if you need a pole why isn't that something listed to purchase in the description?

This is pretty much the same as any other arm mounted device but for a laptop. I didn't have issues assembling it and putting it together. Using it was easy enough. I liked that this was attachable to a pole which allows me to keep the desktop clear of anything. Allows me to use my laptop then not worry about it cluttering my space. This is a great option when you need multiple systems and you have limited space. This allows more options compared to traditional desk mounted arms.
