This made a long car trip comfortable. I was also cooler and less sweaty. It gives good support and seems like it will hold its shape well. The size was perfect for the car seat, if placed with the shorter sides at the front and back of the seat. It laid flat that way. Note: you shouldn't leave this on your car seat if the car will get over 100 degrees. So you'll need to move it to a cooler place in your car if you leave it in the car. Since this is fairly heavy to carry around, I don't think I'll use this on an airplane.

I had surgery for a complete hamstring rupture and bought this chair pad for my return to my desk job. If you've blown your hamstring off, you know the deal with the pain of learning to sit again after surgery repair, for a very long time. I did a lot of research and bought a few cushions and this is the lucky winner--the design is perfect for weight shift off of direct incisional pain on the seat of the buttock. Purchased in Sept. 2018. Still like new in 2026. This Purple Royal seat cushion was purchased eight years ago and is still an office chair accessory. Yes, it is weighty, but I am not dropping a star just for that. I do not ever carry it around. It sits in my office chair and is used regularly. Eight years and counting. I did purchase another for my wife a year ago. The old one is a slightly softer sit, but it has been around a long time. I do recommend this product enough that I would not ever want to try a knock off. No noticeable wear to the cover yet either.

I'm not going to lie, having at least any cushion under my bum has helped loads with the amount of sitting I do. I typically sit at a desk most of the day, anywhere between 12-16 hours (I know, it's not the greatest). You can imagine that it gets pretty tender downstairs during that time range, day after day. Yes, I need a cushion and this one works, kind of. I honestly think I would be better off with a different cushion. In my opinion, the purple cushion is extremely pricey relative to other brands on the market, squishes too easily, and moves too freely. Running me $80, I expected I'd never need to think about my backside again. Was I wrong. I got the 2 inch pad, after long debate of getting the 1 inch. I mean, I am a large dude, 6'4" and 280 pounds, but the 2 inches doesn't even cut it. I sink straight through it and feel the chair underneath me, so much so that my backside will start hurting after an hour or two. The pad slips around a lot, and not just the pad as a whole. Sliding off the chair, I could probably deal with in other ways, but this pad, because of its flex and grid like design, collapses extremely easily and can go from about a foot and a half long and 1 foot wide to a collapsed 6 inches of uncomfortable hardened goo under my tush. I'm constantly readjusting myself, changing my posture, repositioning the cushion to expand it back to full size, etc. The pad also heats up after a little while and becomes even more malleable than when it's cold, increasing the above issues twofold. Because the pad gives so easily, I find my posture being hunched over more often because my butt has no firm support around the tailbone area. That makes my lumbar have to do all the work by hunching over uncomfortably. I decided to try this cushion because of all the advertisements I've seen on Purple products, the egg test, the satisfied customers, the "science of it", etc. I really wanted to like this cushion, what with all of Purple's claims and such, and have given this pad over 6 months of constant use. I'm sad to say I'm greatly disappointed. Purple's product just really is not that great for such steep prices. I imagine the thicker you go, the more comfort you would get, but I could barely afford the 2 inch pad, let alone the thicker ones, which seem to double and triple the price. Like I said, I needed a cushion, this technically is one and kind of works, thus the 3 stars. My seat is more comfortable than before, but there's a whole new host of problems that you purchase willingly with your 80 bucks. Just be aware.

I purchased this to use on the seat of my Pelican Catch 100XD. It is a foot powered peddle drive kayak. After peddling around the lake for hours, my butt gets sore. It takes a bit of pleasure from an otherwise pleasant day on the lake. After looking around at different options, I opted for this cushion. It has made a world of difference. I have used it on 2 trips now, and I can say with full confidence that this seat makes an amazing difference. An unexpected bonus is that it also makes my kayak more silent. When peddling this kayak without the cushion, the seat legs rub a bit on the kayak and the seat fabric rubs on the seat frame, making an annoying noise each time you push the peddles. I use my kayak for fishing, so I like to be silent as possible. This cushion took that sound away. The cushion absorbs the movement and I am now in stealth mode. It also makes the seat higher, which I like. A lot of people in my kayak social media groups alter their seats to elevate them. It makes fishing easier. So, like I said, the extra 2-3 inches I get from this cushion help a lot. That pro also creates a con, however, as the seat's back rest becomes "shorter" and I have noticed that my upper back is missing that support that is lost when using the cushion. I corrected that by reclining the seat a bit. It wasn't a perfect fix, but it helped. I logged 4 hours on the lake last night and my back and backside both feel fine today. Just to be clear though, this isn't going to eliminate the pain in your butt completely. I still notice myself shifting around here and there to relieve some pressure, but believe me, there is a WORLD of difference between using this cushion and not using it. I also used it on a 2 hour car drive and it was lovely. I had to make my car seat lower though because the added height created by the cushion changes everything I am used to. If you get this for the car, keep that it mind. It is okay if you have car seats that can be raised/lowered. If you don't, I am sure it will be fine, it just will take a few trips to develop new muscle memory.
