We retrofitted this with Roof Risers and mounted it on our roof. Turned out awesome and fit perfectly. Love the shade it provides. We haven’t had rain since it’s been up yet but am interested to see how it handles the rain. Hopefully the water is diverted to the side beams as designed and doesn’t come through the louvres. Installation took some time but wasn’t overly complicated. Instructions were clear. It would be awesome if they were able to come up with a way to have some of the Louvres pre-attached already. Attaching over 250 individual Louvres was a pain! But all in all, we are super happy with how it turned out so far.

The summer sun in Texas is intense and hot. We searched for a solution that would provide shade for a vegetable garden with no natural shade. Last year, we tried using shade cloths but they did not endure the frequency or strength of the winds in our rural setting This structure is intended to be bolted to an existing concrete patio or wooden deck that our vegetable garden obviously did not have, so we were concerned about our ability to create 4 perfectly level bases for the 4 posts in the middle of our pre-existing garden. The louvered roof was just what we needed and the majority of the reviews were encouraging. That, along with the number of reviews which praised the quality of the materials and the prompt and thorough responses by Purple Leaf for those who had questions or issues, convinced us to take a chance. This structure must be mounted on a stable and level surface. This required us to pour 4 separate concrete footings (12 and 14 ft apart in our case), each one at the exact height and perfectly square in relation to the others. Because of our winds, I wanted the feet of the posts to be bolted to anchors I set in each footing. Getting the four pads of concrete in the appropriate location was not too difficult, but the challenge was in setting the bolts in the concrete pilings perfectly, so that the posts would ultimately sit in line with those adjacent to it. Long story short, it can be done! It all turned out well. Photos show the variation in height of the pads and 8” anchor bolts set in the concrete for mounting. The pieces were shipped securely in heavy duty packaging. Each painted piece was protected by a sturdy plastic layer which had to be peeled off every surface, including the front and back of each louver. It took a little effort to remove it all, but we appreciated the quality and the protection it provided. No scratches or dents on any of our pieces! All the components fit very well and all the hardware necessary to complete the job was included . The instructions that come with the pergola aren’t great but are good enough to get the job done. The measurements in the literature are quite accurate. The pergola is well constructed and has a nice paint finish. There were no scratches or dents and there were no missing pieces. The package we ordered included 3 louvered panels to install as “ walls.” We have not yet installed those so I cannot comment on my experience, but based on the quality and fit of the adjustable louvers on the roof and the pergola itself, I anticipate no issues. NOTES: Some small tools are included for installation. I would highly suggest having a good Philips screwdriver and some 10mm hex tools. The small screwdrivers provided were extremely light duty and broke after one use. Having some good tools of your own will make the job much easier. Unless you are skilled and experienced with mechanical things and have some knowledge of construction, I would highly suggest having some capable help with this installation. Some of the components are heavy and awkward. I did ours by myself, but I am skilled in those fields. We are quite pleased with this purchase and would not hesitate to purchase another one if needed. AGAIN: Get some help if you’re not highly skilled. Good Luck and enjoy!

High quality pergola that was relatively easy to put together with two people. The shades move smoothly and are easy to open and close, and the entire structure feels very sturdy. This is a fantastic addition to our backyard and we can’t wait to use it!

The media could not be loaded. I am overall satisfied with my pergola. It was delivered in several boxes. One of the boxes was open and I was skeptical as to whether everything was included. The seller was responsive and sent what was missing. It took several tries to get someone to put it together. I am not a contractor but the instructions look very difficult and I believe some installers were intimidated. In the end I hired Assemblers Inc., who assembles Purpleleaf products, and one person put the Pergola together within 4 hours for a reasonable price. The roof, which opens and closes, is a perfect addition to regulate shade. The pieces look heavy but are not, they are aluminum with a galvanized steel overlay. I get a lot of wind in my backyard and the pergola holds up in high winds, so far very sturdy. Update: still sturdy and beautiful.. no regrets.

Shipped fast but in a few deliveries due to how many boxes. Customer service was great when I overlooked installation instructions. They knew exactly where and in which box to locate them. Instal was straight forward, was able to do it alone with some ladders in a single day. Quality has been great, withstood some heavy wind/dust storms in Az and no issues. Roof being loved is remarkable leak free. 10 out of 10 will buy again from purple leaf

This pergola is well made, packaged really well, and was pretty straight forward to put together with 3 of us. You can get cheaper pergolas out there, but this one is going to hold up a lot longer and look better.

Easy to assemble, sturdy and water resistant. We have a large outdoor kitchen and all other pergolas wouldn’t fit the space. The 12’x16’ was perfect for our backyard. The gutters work really well for Arizona monsoons.

This came with scratches, dents, bends and missing parts. Was offered 150 compensation to fix the issue and told to try fix the dents and bends myself. Keep in mind we paid over 5k for this. The money you think you are saving by getting this is not worth the issues and headache you will have to deal with. We have a big pile of unusable metal just sitting in our back yard. Also the mechanisum conection and railing to open, close and hold the louvers is flimsy plastic and a few arived already broken. They did have a couple extra pieces in the packageing to replace them. I suspect this is commenly happend before for them to do that. I don't expect the plastic to hold in the elements for to long and once they go, the whole thing is useless. Just stay away, you have been warned.
