I assembled this pergola in about a total of 10 hours. I took my time and read the instructions at least 3 times before starting. The pictures are easy to understand and taking the time to see how everything goes together 1st is essential. I followed most of the order except that I assembled the top supports all before beginning the process. I needed help to hold the frame. It's pretty lightweight so it wasn't awkward. I had help for about 3 hours to complete the assembly of the frame and top sections as well as installing the cover. The ends of the cover required elastic pulled out and attached to the end. I used a "piston ring expansion " tool to make it easier. I'm enjoying the accomplishment of assembly and the pergola seems to be of a good quality. It it much cooler when the cover is drawn and keeps the heat away from the house. The material is aluminum so I needed to be careful not to bend or scratch it. Pre-assembling the parts made it easier and saved time. I recommend this to anyone who is looking for shade and creating a comfortable outdoor area to relax! ... show more

Purchased the 10x10 Pergola and my wife loves it. It is great in low windy places but if you live in a high windy place, it will shift the pergola making it slightly lean even if anchored into the ground. Easy fix though, just shift it back into place. Just a small annoyance. If you really don't want the pergola to move at all, you could pour concrete into the legs as they are hallow aluminum pieces. However, I did not do that but might do that later. Had an issue when I was putting it together. Found two extra pieces that were supposed to be 2 main pieces. I did speak with the seller and they worked with me so I can get everything up. Very pleased with the customer service responses. Grade A+ customer support. Overall, the pergola is really nice. Just keep in mind if you live in a windy place, anchor that bad boy down or it will blow over and away as it is very lite. ... show more

When putting it together I noted how there were 4 bolts on each end of a joined pillar/brace (8) and 2 sets (1 on another side). So 16 total. I felt like that was a very sturdy design when another company could have just done it with 2 on each end/sets. Directions were clear for nearly all the parts except for a couple of spots where it was tough to see which side of the piece to use and which direction the fabric was supposed to lay when done. I eventually figured it out. I'm sure another person could have easily breezed through that. In the middle of putting it together, I did find a wrong piece had been included in the kit. I e-mailed customer service and they were very helpful in getting the piece fedex'd to me. Appreciate the quick response and result! ... show more

The top is difficult to keep closed. Slightest wind moves it. We had to develop a way to secure it ourselves. It should have a clip system or something to secure it.

pretty easy to assemble, just follow directions and pictures closely, much easier to have 2 people to assemble but i just used chairs and ladders to balance the posts until i connected them have had it for a few months no issues yet we'll see how it holds up during the winter and if it will rust or not. received many compliments from family and friends and looks a lot more expensive than it is. (i have the grey color) ... show more
