  • WOW...This stuff worked for me
Each winter (usually some time between Nov and Jan) for the last 12yrs I have had an inexplicable upper respiratory issue. Generally it's a dry unproductive cough that persists for 4-6wks. It's a rough, frustrating period, where sleeping is tough, my voice is hoarse and I (and my family) am generally miserable. It's most likely caused by a combination of GERD and asthma. Other than this issue my health is generally good year round. This year the problem was brutal and the cough persisted for 9 weeks(!!!) without any sign of relief in sight. I was taking 80mg of Omeprazole daily, using Flovent, Albuterol and Flonase daily. I also had two rounds of Prednisone and a round of antibiotics, Amoxicillen Clav. I saw my family Dr, an ENT, a Pulmonologist, and a Gastroenterologist. I even had a chest x-ray which happily came back negative. Fast forward to week 9 and NAC. I started looking up ways to break up mucous that seemed unwilling to come up or break up. Most of the stuff I read like, steam, neti pots, drinking hot water with lemon or honey or both, etc. I was doing daily with minimal relief. One article I found mentioned this NAC which I had never heard of. I started doing some research on it. It was OTC, so I had low expectations. On the plus side I had found a few peer reviewed medical studies on NAC which implied that the medical community, at a minimum, had some belief there might be something palliative in NAC. Most of the studies I read recommended more research with some promising, if not, definitive results. That was encouraging enough for me to give it a try. I received the NAC on a Sunday (jeez Amazon). I began taking it on Sunday and got in 2 600mg doses -- one 600mg dose at dinner and one 600mg dose before bed. The following day I took it 3x -- morning, afternoon and before sleep. By late Monday I had noticed that my cough had been muted a bit but really didn't think much of it at the time. By Tuesday there was clearly a measurable change. By Wednesday I was miraculously feeling about 65-75% (obviously subjective) better. I have now been taking NAC for 8 days, 3x/day. I am about 95-100% better. It's obviously hard to attribute all of this recovery to NAC but it's also hard not to. The NAC is the only new treatment I added to the daily regimen. I still have the question of knowing when and if I should go off this stuff. Anyway, that's my story. My conclusion is that NAC is probably not a panacea but for certain conditions it may very well may be. If you're having symptoms like the ones I described above (eg, persistent, dry, unproductive cough likely brought on by GERD and asthma), give NAC a try. ... show more

  • Why the price increase?
Flavor Name: Coconut Size: 90 Count (Pack of 1)
This is a helpful product for fat digestion. I want to know why the price double since last week. Inflation is 5% not 50% so how can you justify doubling your pricem

  • It works - and how to fix the smell of it
I will say, it does smell like rotten eggs but it works for me. I've been using it to detox and one thing that happens when you're toxic is you smell - your breath - everything. I noticed a significant improvement in my smell by the next day after taking a pill in the morning and a pill at night (I know it sounds gross but hey - we're all human and sometimes we smell). I have a very sensitive nose and don't like the sulfur aroma. What you do is get some good espresso beans, grind them up (I used probably 2-3 Tblsps +) grind them up fine and use a funnel to pour them into the bottle. Shake well. The coffee powder sinks to the bottom and don't really cling to the pills. Anyone who has a hypersensitive nose (like K-9 cops) will know that the drug cartels got one thing right: coffee. Coffee literally takes the smell out of everything, from dead freezers full of rotting salmon to dog poop on the floor to beautiful leather couches from the craigslist free ads that smell so strongly of someone else's cigarette habit that they are virtually unusable, to these rotten-egg-scented pills. Get some decent coffee beans, grind, sprinkle, let sit directly on the culprit whatever it may be, and vacuum up (it'll make your vacuum smell good too!) My apologies if you don't like the smell of freshly ground coffee; I got nothin to cure that, but if you do, and you have a strong gag reflex and a hyper-sensitive nose like me, it's a lifesaver ... show more

  • Works for chest congestion!
Bottom line: great for breaking down chest congestion, and if you store a handful in a baggie at a time it doesn't smell.. I get chest congestion every time I am sick, and a pretty nasty cough that takes about two or three months to clear up totally. I had a pretty nasty cold the first of February and still had quite a bit of chest congestion in April. With all this covid mess happening chest congestion was the last thing I needed. A friend referred me to NAC for the issue, warning me that it smelled pretty bad. Delays in shipping meant five days before the product would arrive, and with allergies exasperating the issue I didn't want to wait, so my friend put some pills in a Ziploc to tide me over. This turned out to be a blessing as not only did I see that they were quickly helping before even opening my own bottle, but I discovered that placing a handful in a baggie diminishes the smell drastically! Now I dump about a week's worth in a bag at a time, no strong sulphur smell to deal with when swallowing! I'm taking this daily to see if it helps with my fibro brain fog and will update when I have enough information. ... show more

  • Not sure of the quality
When I originally took these, I just thought NAC wasn't for me, because it didn't help my picking/nail biting habits, which is one of the things it's used for and what I was trying it for. It didn't really decrease my habits much at all. Also the capsules absolutely reek of sulfur. Later on I tried NAC powder from another vendor and it actually did have very positive effects on my obsessive thinking/habits, plus it barely smelled at all despite the fact that this substance is always gonna have some sulfur in it. So I think this brand has some very impure NAC and there is better stuff out there. ... show more

  • Everyone should take this
I use NAC for mainly for my asthma. It works very well!! I usually buy a different brand but these are better quality, cheaper and you 3x the amount of capsules in a bottle. Easy to swallow. NAC is supposed to smell awful so don't be scared you got a bad bottle. I also use these to brush my teeth occasionally. NAC has antibacterial properties and is great for whitening and cleaning yur tongue. Just open the cap and mix with a bit of water and brush the solution. You can swallow it. My husband has terrible teeth and this gets rid of his toothache fast. I have to force him but he always thanks me after. The taste will be extremely/sour but worth it. NAC is not a hype. It is great for many areas of your health. ... show more
