Directions: First, you’ll need to establish what color is “normal” for your unique cat. This will be your baseline for all future color comparisons. ESTABLISHING YOUR BASELINE 1. Start with a clean box. Fill with 2 to 3 inches of Alert. 2. Within 2 hours of use, compare litter crystals to color guide. 3. Keep observing the color, since it can vary naturally throughout the day, particularly 1 to 2 hours after eating. After 5 days, determine the most common color within the normal range. This is your baseline. NOTE If the color remains outside of the normal range, call your veterinarian. READING YOUR RESULTS Once you’ve established a baseline color for your cat, monitor the litter box daily. If you see a color that is consistently outside the normal range—and it persists for more than two days—it’s time to call your veterinarian to discuss next steps. CONTINUING USE 1. Scoop solids daily to ensure optimal absorbency. (No urine clumps means easy maintenance!) 2. Stir frequently, adding Alert as needed to maintain 2- to 3-inch depth. 3. After 20 to 30 days (for one cat), dispose of used litter, wash box using mild detergent, dry, and refill with 2 to 3 inches of Alert litter. NOTE Cleaning box with bleach or adding baking soda deodorizer can alter color results.

I love this litter! I was using a more expensive brand for months but then I had to take care of my daughter's cats as well and I couldn't afford the higher price. I was looking for less expensive options and tried this. It is wonderful! While it's not super less expensive, every dollar counts and this fits the bill. It doesn't track nearly as much so it is much cleaner than the other stuff. It def hides the odor well. My cats are healthy so I can't say if it the color changes are correct but I am really happy with it not tracking all over my house. I don't think it's as dusty either...tho it's in my luandry room so it's hard to tell for sure. It lasts just as long as the other stuff. Very happy! ... show more

Works great. My cats had no problem with the litter at all. I switched from Pretty Litter. This is not nearly as fancy or pretty or whatever, but it does the same job. Still changes colors. Great odor control. 2 more pounds than pretty litter for half the price per package. I'm buying 4 for $60 whenever it goes on sale and I just stockpile them. I have 2 cats and 2 litter boxes. Change the main litter box that my kitties share every 2 weeks and then the secondary box which is hardly used, I change as needed. Typically once a month. I could likely let both litter boxes go longer but I like to keep it clean. For all the things you need it to do, it does a comparable job if not better job to Pretty Litter. For all the extra bells and whistles, which isn't much, its good enough that you won't miss what Pretty Litter offers. ... show more

I absolutely love this litter one bag lasts my kitten 30 full days as long as you scoop it everyday and mix the litter around I just wish all four bags arrived at one time We had some issues with shipping but the product itself was amazing. It does not clump like you would think but it does keep the smell down It even can tell you if you are kitten is having health issues depending on the color after they pee on it. ... show more

    • Sounds silly, but this changed my life!
This stuff is life-changing! My cat drinks sooo much water, she pees more than a human and I was throwing away pounds of clumped litter DAILY! Now, she can pee all she wants, the crystals are so neat. She goes #2 in a second little box (most times). It does NOT cover smells up very well though. Like, not at all. I lice in a pretty spacious home, so I'm not hanging around it, but even though I got "scented", it's not. You should get #2 out of the box right away. Not a huge deal to me, fast and easy. This litter works really well. It controls odors, is easy to clean and use, and my cat likes it. I also appreciate the health color indicator feature - very helpful. The price is fair for the quality. Definitely buying again.

I am on my second bag. This litter DOES create dust when scooped. My bedroom air cleaner right above the litter box lights up with DUST and ODOR response when ever I clean box. You can also see and smell both. ALSO this litter absolutely sticks to the cats paws and tracks throughout the house, despite claims of otherwise. I have to sweep the granules every day on the hard floor and vacuum the carpet all around the cat box every few days. It does last longer than clay litter because it does not clump around urine. The urine is absorbed which does stink when you stir up the litter to level it out between uses. ... show more

    • Urinary health monitoring litter
We were strictly pretty litter for years due to health issues in one of my cats. They are also very picky and don't like the way they classic litter. Finding this slightly less expensive version of the same thing has bGeen great. I have it on auto ship which saves me a little bit more. This litter does not clump. One bag lasts one month for two cats. You do have to follow the directions though, daily scooping of poop is important and then you need to swirl it all around and mix the peed spots all back in with the rest really well and then it evaporates. If you do that there is never a smell. It takes a lot of neglect for it to get smelly. If you're not going to mix the litter around you might as well just stick with the regular kind. My cat gets crystals really easily and this litter has saved us quite a few extremely crazy vet bills. The litter will turn red if your cat is in danger of developing or already has crystals. The sooner you know the better, once it's an emergency is can cost up to $6k at the emergency vet. Highly recommend for cats with or without known urinary issues. ... show more

    • It changes color. * NOT FOR USE WITH LITTER ROBOTS*
It does what it’s supposed to, if you catch it in time. I’m not certain it’s going to work out for my litter robot as it doesn’t actually absorb pee the way traditional litter does. You just kinda stir it around and it disperses. However. We have only been using the litter robot for a couple days. It’s a really pretty rose quartz color to begin with. So if litter box aesthetic is a concern, this is the way to go. Somebody else in the reviews said to change it when it looks like cheesy grits. TRUE. Except. I think it oxidizes. We went to visit my boyfriend and the cats were all using his traditional litter box with traditional litter. So I either didn’t notice the cat using the litter box like 30 times, or it oxidizes over the course of a week. It’s obviously expensive. But worth it for peace of mind (and it’s pretty) one of our cats has pancreatitis. And I’m trying to find a good “alert” litter before we actually move in together. Hoping maybe this is the one. There IS dust when you initially pour it in. But I’ve not noticed much after that. Especially with the litter robot. It is exceptionally noticeable though with my new kittens “training” litter box. But he is outgrowing that at a high rate of speed anyway. Does feel like glass when you step on it with bare feet. Makes midnight trips to the bathroom feel very dangerous and exciting. I’d recommend it so far Update-Do not use this with a litter robot. What a mess ... show more
