When I purchased this item I was beyond excited about it. My newly adopted dog, 4 yo small breed, was fed something like this when he was at our local HSPA. I decided to purchase this because he seemed to enjoy the sample pack so much more than the h!//$ diet food package. Well after a few meals he just wouldn’t eat it! I tried mixing it with dog gravy, small cuts of chicken, bone broth, water, you name it - I tried it. Now he absolutely refuses to eat it and I’m so disappointed that I wasted all this food. I wouldn’t recommend you get this large package right away, I’d get a small package and give that to your dog and see if they actually like it beyond a week. Newbie mistake that won’t happen again for me. I’ll update if my little one decides he does want to eat it later on. ... show more

I've been feeding my dogs Purina one,smart blend for years. Recently it's been thought that Gruber might have a sensitive digestive tract, so I bought basically the same food, but probiotic, as itsays. It worked well, at least no worse, but I didn't continue with it because, I've not found it locally and I feel silly getting dog food in the mail. He's now testing Purina Pro Plan HA, available only the veterinarians for a couple of months. Both Purina products obviously, and they're great. ... show more

My pit/bully mix is an extremely picky eater. We’ve tried other, more expensive dry foods that he just wouldn’t touch. Right when the package arrived, my dog was ALL OVER IT. He knew it was for him. He usually sits back a few feet as I fill his bowl but he was too excited to do that! And immediately he just started CHOWING DOWN! I was so pleased to see that. He has been having stomach troubles lately, with runny poo, so I really hope this starts to clear that up for him. He’s been beyond playful since he started eating this, too. I really think this was the move I needed to make. I would like to acknowledge the bad reviews, don’t knock it til you try it! This dog food has corn fillers and chicken byproducts plus other grains. I was disappointed in all of the products that are not good for a dog. Listen to Dr. Marty's info about pluses and negatives of dog foods. By products of chickens can include beaks, feet. Other animal by-products can even include intestines with feces washed out and road kill. Read ingredients of brand name foods. I am switching to Diamond dog food. My 11 year old pom-chi absolutely loves this dog food. And I absolutely love the price. Eating this for the past 3 months has proved to be so beneficial to his digestive health & he is also losing weight. This brand of probiotic dog food has saved me tons of money. Before, I had to buy the Hills Prescription Brand Probiotic dry food and it was $40 for a small 8 pound velcro closing bag. We switched to this dog food because our dogs have sensitive stomachs and we thought this would help. Since we completed the switching process (mixing the new with the old in decreasing quantities over time until just the new remains) they have had more accidents in the house, have vomited and had diarrhea more than ever before, and their skin is dry and raw. This made both of my dogs diarrhea and vomit. I don't think this is for sensitive stomachs. Not sure if we received a bad batch or this is a side effect of probiotics. We always buy Purina for years.
