  • Ultra Quiet Operation with Nice Additional Features!
Can't hear it at all all night long and it's right next to my bed. I have it on about 3 or 4 output level. Two gals of distilled water lasts a few nights. I make sure my hands are clean when unscrewing filler cap to cut down on bacteria. I plan on buying more 32% hydrogen peroxide and adding a few drops occasionally to prevent any baddies from forming. Last time I bought some it came in about a quart bottle and also a blue glass bottle with an eydropper. That stuff works great but must be handled with extreme caution. Especially dangerous to the eyes and WILL cause loss of sight if contact with eye is made so be warned. Bleach does the same thing but I hated the smell and my eyes were burning a little the next morning when I only added just a few drops to a gallon. Won't be doing that again but it does prevent baddies from growing in the water. Anyway, this humidifier works fabulously compared to my Homedics two gallon unit. Don't get me wrong it is great too and their customer service is very good too, as they sent me a brand new one after my almost two year old one started leaking out the bottom. It runs much louder than the Pure Guardian but the mist comes out more robust than the Pure Guardian because of how the mist exits the unit. If Pure Guardian didn't have a double exit for the mist it would probably be as robust as the Homedics. Both are easy to fill and clean and each holds two gals but for quiet operation the Guardian wins hands down. I run them both for eight hours a night one on each side. Both have warm mist setting as well as cool. The Homedics makes gurgling sounds all night long so I use earplugs. I'm a light sleeper so that helps me a lot. I can still hear my alarm go off to get up, but they muffle the gurgling and I sleep like a baby. On these hot summer nights I run the air at 77 degrees and the humidifiers add just the right amount of cooling to the air to sleep well. Highly recommend the Pure Guardian as well as the other if you want to combat the dryness air conditioning naturally causes either in summer or especially in winter when the heater really causes dryness of the air. The scented oils don't really kick in much on either for very long and that's probably due to it being so passively introduced on its little "shelf drawer" with a saturated pad. It's too bad the scented oils can't be injected into the mist more positively but that's how these are made. I guess they have other ways of doing that, like a bowl with a light under it or something. When filling reservoir I just flip it upside down on the bed and pour in. Then I snug the filler cap not too tight and grabbing the handle in my right hand, cradle the bottom of full reservoir in left hand while placing it into position. Never have any problems. Read reviews where people complained about it's too heavy. Or the cap didn't screw on right and it spllied all over. Some people just don't have any basic motor skills I suppose. Regardless, this humidifier is worth every penny in my opinion. Looking forward to years if service and never repeat never will I put anything but distilled water through it. Heard too many whine about white dust forming on nearby surfaces I guess from mineral deposits. If you're going to afford the luxury of one of these, you gotta feed it right. Shame there isn't a way to distill your own and save money but if anyone knows please don't hesitate to let me know. Hope this review helps your decision. ... show more

  • Best thing EVER in the dry winter months!
Before I got this, my sinuses were completely dried out during our dry winter in Upstate New York 2022. When I got it, I filled it up and set it for the most mist to come out before going to bed. Upon wakening the next morning, my sinuses were completely moist (yes, I said moist), and I could even smell and taste instantly! Instant relief of sinus congestion and discomfort, allowing me to sleep so much better! This thing is completely silent too! ... show more

  • Mostly pro with a couple cons
FYI It says it can’t be ran continuously. Lights are bright. It’s pretty quiet but occasionally here the water drop down from the tank. Overall though a good humidifier. Wish it had a filter.

  • Broke after a month / repaired after another month
I've had this humidifier for 3 weeks. I moved from oceanside New York to the desert of Tucson and boy is it dry here. I run the humidifier all day, everyday. I bought this one to replace my old one when the heating element went out on it. This humidifier is quite an upgrade from the previous one. First, it really does help humidify my entire apartment. I have a bedroom, living room and dining room, all totalling about 600 sq ft. When I first turned it on, the cool mist issued out immediately and generously. It definitely had a "new plastic" kind of smell to it at first, but like any new object, it subsided after running it for a little while. I love the timer and output settings, although I think in the future I may want to get one that will tell me what the humidity levels are in the air. My fiance' and I love the blue night light so much we both fall asleep to it. The motor is very quiet and the only loud sound you'll hear from it is the bubbling of water as it shifts from time to time. I think my only disappointment with the thing is that I feel I use more essential oil droplets (I use a lot of eucalyptus) in this one than I did my previous one. This model has a pad that the essential oils are dropped onto then the pad is inserted into the back of the machine. The other one I had allowed for the oils to be dropped directly on the top in a little tray without having an absorbing pad get in the way. So now I just use an oil burner. For the price, I do recommend this humidifier. UPDATED 7/15/20 Such a bummer. I went from 5 glowing stars to 1 star really quickly. At about week five the refill light started blinking even when the tank was full. I followed the troubleshooting steps...unplug for 5 seconds, plug it back in and try again...and I made sure the tank's cap wasn't on too tight. I went to the manufacturer's website, registered the humidifier for its warranty protection, and looked at their FAQs to see if there was anything else I could do. I took the tank off of the bottom part, cleaned the tank's cap, cleaned around the floater and heating element (even though there wasn't anything to clean...we use filtered water) and put it back together again. It would turn on and work for a couple of hours and then start blinking again. I emailed customer service. They responded with the same troubleshooting tips that I had already completed. I let them know that those steps didn't work. They responded again telling me that I'd need to fill out a form and ship it to them (at my cost) and wait a couple of weeks, up to 14 business days, for it to be repaired and returned. I would have appreciated a shipping label as businesses can get discounted rates on shipping not available to non-business people like me. Shipping is going to cost almost as much as the humidifier....so maybe I need to buy a different brand instead with a better warranty/guarantee. Update 8/18/20 I sent the humidifier back to the manufacturer and it cost $45! It took about 3 weeks for it to get there and return back to me. I’m not entirely sure what happened to it. The one returned to me is not the one I sent out, so perhaps mine was completely broken? The one returned to me wasn’t in a box or wrapped in any way and it was still wet. They included a couple “aqua balls” but no packing slip, no explanation as to what happened. I’ve been running it off and on for the past 24 hours since I’ve gotten it back and it runs fine. Next time if I have to buy another of these, I’m going to buy the extended warranty so I can go through amazon for a replacement rather than spending $45 on shipping. I wish they would have just let me know what was wrong and any advice to care for it and maybe a $20-$30 credit for their online shop. ... show more

  • The Cadillac of home home humidifiers!
The media could not be loaded. It really cranks out the mist! The warm mist isn't that warm though (80⁰), but that means it's safer around children & pets. Plus it is VERY quiet. The 4/8/12 hr timer is optional, so you can run it continuously. I like that the blue tank light can be turned off, but the button lights do stay on. I used my refrigerator filtered water (had to fill another container up to fill it). The only downside I see is that it isn't a top fill tank, and can be pretty heavy if you're elderly or sick (think how heavy 2 gallons of milk on one arm can be when you're exhausted). It does have a good handle on the top & the bottom to help though. But other than that, I'm thrilled with it. I'm used to having to refill the tanks of cheaper ones every 4 to 6 hours. This thing lasts DAYS, depending on if you have it on high, med, or low. Plus there's a 10% off coupon right now for it. ... show more
