  • This. Damn. BEAUTIFUL. Filament!!!
Color: Htpla Nebula Multicolor, 500g
I bought this filament to print some homemade "Nerf" blasters.. oh man this color came out DIVINE!! and the print quality is PEAK. a bit expensive but its worth it tbh. The cost is pretty justified. ProtoPasta has become my #1 favorite filament brand quickly, though i do wish 1kg spools could be sold on here, im sure many would be willing to pay to purchase them. The 500g spools dont feel sufficient, id like more "bulk" quality on here in the future maybe bundles too. But this Nebula color will NOT dissapoint! ... show more

  • Great filament

  • Excellent for printing light diffusers
Objects printed with this are absolutely gorgeous. It's not perfectly clear, but has a slight translucency which catches and refracts light in a cool way. Where it *really* shines, in my opinion, is when it's heat treated. When heated to above 110°C, it turns a semi-opaque milky white that diffuses light, making it perfect for light pipes and LED diffusers for my electronics and model projects. For smaller and/or flatter parts, I've been heat treating them right on the heated bed by turning the temperature up for a few minutes after printing. The heat treating process also seems to make it easier to file and sand, which is an added bonus. The only con I can think of is the cost, but it's a quality product that prints perfectly, and it's made here in the US, so it's worth the extra cash in my opinion. ... show more

  • Always great filament and American made!
Color: Recycled Pla Black, 1kg
I love Protopasta and usually buy on their website but I wanted my filament a bit faster than they could provide, so I ordered some on Amazon. This is recycled filament, so the color won't necessarily be perfectly consistent, but I've found the color to be nearly perfectly consistent so far. I buy recycled filament when I can and Protopasta never disappoints. I've had no clogging, brittleness, or adhesion problems. I also love that the spool is made of recyclable cardboard! ... show more

  • Great filament
Color: Htpla Forest Fantasy Multicolor Green, 500g
Beautiful filament, accurate prints, recyclable spool that works great on my printer. Filament arrived vacuum packed and dry. No clogging. No stringing. Consistent throughout the spool. Adheres well to the build plate.

  • My feelings are as mixed up as the colors
Color: Htpla Nebula Multicolor, 500g
Somebody gave me a functional item printed in this filament. I purchased this PLA to match that original piece, initially I’m frustrated by the price, it’s half what of what a usually spool contains at 500g’s the price of a premium filament Let me start with some praise, it seems items printed in this PLA are extremely strong, the colors are striking although can be frustrating (more on that in a bit), and it prints extremely well and consistently without much notice of layers. Here’s some criticism: I had 2 items separate from my pei bed in the 7-8th hour of printing at the suggested bed tempt with brimming and supports. I did everything according to the on spool instructions and to lose the equivalent of 8$ in filament to it detachment is beyond frustrating. I’m yet to have this issue with any other filament on this bed besides this one. For this project I needed roughly 450 g’s to complete it. Losing 125g feels pretty bad, especially when it doesn’t really feel like my fault. I basically cannot complete this project at this point with out buying an addition spool. Which at this point, even though I know I should probably run the bed hotter made me hesitant to repurchase. Also the color variation is very cool but but in the middle of this spool was heavily violet for about 20% which was fine for what I was working on but did look sort of funny against everything else. This is far more a nitpic than a serious critique. Again printed great, and had my print only been like 4-5 hours I’d probably not even by writing this but I hate losing money to dumb issues and hopefully you (the consumer) push that bed temp up a little for longer prints, if you so choose to buy this 60$ a kilogram filament. ... show more

  • Surprisingly Awesome Recycled Filament
Color: Recycled Pla Black, 1kg
I was expecting less consistency in layer adhesion, since this is a recycled. Sometimes, impurities in the bulk processing of recycled filament leads to issues, but this wasn't the case. This filament is great! Since I've been branching out into higher quality pla, I had to see about grabbing some protopasta. This was on sale. That being said, I'm having some adhesion issues, but I'm pretty sure that's due to switching to a G10 bed. My prints have been coming out stronger than I thought was even possible with pla, and that's with 7% infill. This spool really sold me on spending the extra dollars. ... show more

  • Some of the best PLA that I have used.
Color: Htpla Opaque Black, 1kg
Very nice black PLA. I have used other Proto-pasta PLA's such as their metal composite with superb results as well. Consistent first layer, solid subsequent layers with no chalking or stringing. Initial bed temp, and printing temps need to be dialed in a bit hotter for this HTPLA for the best results, such as bed adhesion and layer smoothness. The quality was worth the price. Amazon shipped this alone in just a padded bag, and some portions of the cardboard filament roll were folded over in transit, since it was not packed in a box. No biggie it straightened out ok, but had it been worse the roll could have been damaged. (Proto-pasta, please consider a box for your products :) ) . ... show more
