I purchased this a year ago and it's still going strong and I use it pretty much every day. I still have a lot of old-time CDs ... it's just so easy to pop into the cd player. I just needed something simple for a change. It's small and blends right in, not taking up much room. I have it plugged in, but you could also use batteries in make it portable. I originally bought it to help cover up some of my neighbor's noise. I live in a high-rise bldg., with a loud neighbor above me. The bass isn't booming, which is good, as I don't want to annoy my own next door neighbors. I got it for the purpose of trying to distract from the neighbor's noise & then discovered I just like listening to music all the time anyways. Is it the best sound quality? No, but you wouldn't expect it to be. But if you just want a good basic device that is simple to use & sounds pretty good for a low price, then I would recommend this small reliable CD player. The controls are in the back, so it's a little harder to get to them, but it's not a major deal. - Still working just as good - a year later - with constant use. - 5 stars. Recommended. ... show more

This little radio is flimsy. But it's holding out working well enough so far. Con: The radio is not 4 stars. It's almost like the antennae isn't up, the signal is always weak (but not on her old radio -- so I know it's not location.) She ends up really only using it for the cd. Con: As I said, it's flimsy. Boy, I think its even a big enough "bump" would make the cd player no longer work. This has not happened and I am not saying it will. I'm saying I fear that. Pro: Price. Pro: Look. Size. Pro: Simplicity for a child. I don't need a bunch of buttons and equalizers for a child. But in that same vein, this would be a good player to give to my mom (older lady who also won't want a bunch of buttons) for listening to books on cd from the library. Which I am already thinking about for Mothers Day. ... show more

The PROSCAN Elite Portable CD Boombox with AM/FM Radio (Black) I found to be a very nice unit that is easy to operate and doesn't take up a lot of space. The sound quality and volume are good, the controls are simple, and it's attractive. I bought this more to play my collection of CD's on the go, and it can be used with 6 C batteries or the enclosed AC power cord, making it very versatile. It does not have a deep bass sound, and there are no sound adjustments. And that's fine because I didn't expect it to compete with my home stereo system. Overall, I'm pleased with the boom box, and it's a keeper for me. ... show more

    • A CD player that’s more compact.
I like the fact that it’s smaller than my last one. However, the CD player is black & so are all of the controls. You can’t see anything. You have to try to memorize where everything is located.

I'm old school and I have a lot of cd's from the 80's & 90's. My kids love my music and my son loves working out to it. I have a lot of bands that were a little popular back in the day but you don't hear them on the radio anymore, so he likes to listen to bands he never heard of before.
