I would like greater range at lower spring pressure such as 50 or 60. Otherwise it worked fine

    • Test immediately upon receiving it. If it isn't accurate exchange it immediately or you won't be able to.
Measurement is substantially off. 30+ lbs. Tested against another pressure tester and tested with lead weights. Was trying to get a hold the manufacturer to see if there was a calibration method which there is not. Apparently since this process took me more than 30 days Amazon doesn't offer a return at this point. Guess I will call the manufacturer and see if they will stand behind what they sell. ... show more

The Amazon description and pictures for this item are incorrect. The gauge does not swivel 90 degrees. No back lighting ability, not that you would need it. Worst part is that this is the 600 lb version which is overkill for most people who would be using a tool like this. Professional builders work with springs in the 500-600 pound range and they buy complete testers. There are no real instructions with it. I did find a youtube video but it was mostly hype with no technical detail. The literature that comes with it (just the label inside the plastic) mentions that it is easy to calibrate. No mention of how to do this on the Proform site and they have not responded to my emails about it. Based upon testing of 3 different (new) spring types I can say the one I have is reading 10-15% low. I plan to spend more $ to get a calibrated spring unless I can find a calibrated tester to read a spring and compare to mine. So out of the box its not that useful. I plan to modify an arbor press to mount it in and do away with the use of a vice... Updated about 2 weeks later: I bought a calibrated reference spring. It verified my estimate that the gauge is reading 10% low. I not only verified the readings at 5 points, I recalculated the calibration spring rate using the corrected data and came within 2%. At least a 10% error is simple to work with. I found other reviews noting the same error so this may be a design issue with the Proform and possibly other branded testers like this. ... show more
