I was at my mother’s and in need of my tick tracer, but unfortunately it was on the other side of the United States. I own the Fluke version of this item. I can state with no hesitation, this item performed just as well, if not better, than my more expensive Fluke! I was able to trace a wire up the wall, across the ceiling, and into the bathroom to discover the previous owners of the house had disconnected a wire. Very happy with this device!

This summer we had a big windstorm which left us on generator power for 88 hours. Fortunately we had an ammeter on both legs of the generator input and were therefore able to both stay within our generating capacity and reasonably balance the load. But this required turning off breakers without really knowing what we were turning off. If we have to do it again, we’ll be in much better shape. This unit makes quick work of any circuit tracing. Our next step is to label the outlets so we know which breaker is associated. Pros: very thorough and complete kit. High quality test leads. Useful for residential wiring, vehicle wiring harnesses, network and low voltage applications, etc. Cons: It’s 2025. Nothing should be using 9-volt batteries anymore. The things cost a fortune and are always dead. Literally 1950s technology. This thing SHOULD have been designed to take 18650 cells and recharge via USB-C. But no, the curse of the 9-volt persists. And they stuck a screw on the battery doors, because why wouldn’t they?

This toner/tracer tool is a must-have for any homeowner. This tool allows one to quickly identify which outlet is connected to a circuit breaker as well as any other cable for that matter. I like that the kit also includes a network cable tester that can be used to identify bad network jacks and/or individual conductors that may have gotten damaged or miswired inside of the RJ connector. One quick tip is that if you are tracing an electrical outlet please be sure the power is turned off for safety reasons!
