  • Best Radar Detector I've Had!!!
Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
Works great, awesome, fantastic... So far I've used a handful of radar detectors over the last 6 years and this one is by far the best one I've used. It's really easy to use and gives lots of warning of anything in the spectrum (x, k ,ka, etc). I run mine in the threat mode because it operates like a little spectrum analyzer and I feel like that gives me the most opsec I can get. I'd recommend this unit... in fact I've put one in both of my cars with the mirror mount. Really great detector. A+ to Beltronics. ... show more

  • Beltronics Pro300 Delivers Excellent detection
Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
The best radar detector I have owned! This unit offers excellent detection range (one mile confirmed) and in general an alarm is given well before visual sighting. Can be used without configuration, right out of the package, but programming is easy. Display is difficult to impossible to read in direct sunlight as the display is angled upwards so it reflects overhead light. No problem as the unit provides clear verbal notification of the signal type detected. When set to dark mode, audio tones and verbal notification maintain full function. ... show more

  • Good, Solid Detector
Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
Good Solid Detector. After 25 or so years with Escort models, I decided to go with now sister co. Bel. Detection sensitivity is on par with the Escort 9500 and 8500 models I've had in the past. The 9500 was taken out in an accident. I didn't need all the Escort Live and GPS capabilities of the 9500, so I eventually wound up with the Bel Pro300 since the Escort 8500 is discontinued (still available though). 2 marks against the Bel, and this may be because I've had Escorts for so long - 1) The Escort female voice sounded more clear and just better, and 2) the Escort geiger counter response is far better - it's a deeper tone and the time interval between beeps is more linear - slow with 1 bar, almost continuous with all bars, with good spacing in between. I will get used to the higher pitch of the Bel, but even at all bars there's too much time between the alerts, and not enough distinction between 1 bar alert and full alert. Other than the alert sound issues, it's definitely on par with the Escorts. As for false signals - get a detector that allows bands to be turned off. I've never had a detector where the laser band worked for very long, and laser isn't used where I travel, so it gets turned off. X band hasn't been used for speed enforcement in a long time, so turn it off. With the advent of K band being used for vehicle speed control and collision protection and traffic information, it's no longer used for speed enforcement, so turn it off. Even the poor counties have sheriffs with Ka these days. I haven't found a speed enforcer using K band in several years. Removal of these useless bands might make the product cheaper, but all of the logic is already paid for, so I doubt it. ... show more

  • Saved my butt again just last week. I don't ...
Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
Saved my butt again just last week. I don't use this thing to speed. Instead I use it to combat against unscrupulous small town police departments that set up speed traps with artificially low speed limit signs hidden behind tree branches. Very few falses, except for the new car blind spot warning systems, and as far as I know no radar detector manufacturer offers a unit that screens those out yet. ... show more

  • Does not help for speed cameras. Escort live is useless unless you spend another $99 for smart live cable
Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
Its okay. I live in an area that contains a ton of traffic speed cameras all over the beltways, schools zones etc. By the time the Beltronics Pro 300 detects the laser I am already there passing the speed camera. Im not sure if this is a limitation of the technology. The smart cable that comes with the detector does not really do anything other than provide a mute button. I am not sure what makes the cable smart. The detector claims to be compatible with Escort Live, but the app on my iphone always states "no radar detector detected" so I'm not sure what is so special about this if i cant even use the app without paying an extra 99 dollars to get the smart live cable. Whats the point ?Might as well bump up to the pro 500. ... show more

  • It works just FINE
Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
Waiting to enter a freeway from an overpass, I was planning on running my car out. I heard a Ka Band alert - didn't see anything front or rear. Hmm ? Just then caught a glimpse peripherally of a CHP on the freeway below me going in my intended direction. Obviously, I entered the freeway at a legal speed. I wasn't speeding when I got the alert, and the Pro 300 saved a possible ticket. ... show more

  • Effective but consederable amount of false K band alerts
Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
The PRO300 is as advertised in most every way. I have been very pleased with its effective range and the ease of use. The mute button on the smart cord is a huge benefit as well if you have a windshield that is difficult to reach. My only real issue with the detector is the excessive amount of false K band alerts, even while in city mode. I know these are false as they occurred often in the same places as my last detector, though that one showed them as x-band alerts??!? The false alerts are alarm systems and often occur near banks, gas stations, and shopping centers and can be somewhat annoying if not for the mute button on the cord. I inquired with tech support at Beltronics if there was a way to filter or reduce these alerts. The comment I received was - "we suggest you buy the 500 to eliminate false alerts". Not exactly what I was looking for in an answer. All in all, a good detector, but with an annoying flaw. ... show more
