I just began my adventure into sourdough starter making. This jar set is perfect due to its open neck design and side jar measurements. It allows me to see just exactly how much my starter has risen after 24 hours by taking a quick photograph. It comes with a nice Red Rubber spatula for and is soft enough to get into the corner crevices at the bottom of the jar. The cloth cover allows it to breathe and not be airtight but it also comes with a airtight lid if that is needed while you store in your refrigerator. I got two sets which is going to allow me to do both regular sourdough starter and also Herman's sweet sourdough starter. It came with a small temperature thing to put on the glass which I haven't used yet because I'm not really sure what temperature I'm seeking. Although nearly any jar would work when making sourdough starter, this one is really nice for the wide open neck without a lip. This makes stirring and scraping the jar easier. The weight of the glass seems to be slightly on the lighter side , which is only important for durability and to prevent breaking. Just need to take extra precaution to not let it slip out of my hand while washing it . I think this is a good value for the money . Especially with the measurements on the side, you can get a better picture of just how much progress you're making with your starter sourdough. I recommend this item!

In all of my all Amazon ordering I have never received a product in such amazing packaging. Not only was the box in perfect condition but the jars fit so perfectly in the styrofoam that they weren't going anywhere! These containers are bigger than i thought which made me happy and the wooden spoons are so cute!! Thank you for actually caring in how your items arrive to your customers.

These have been great for my Acai bowls! They freeze nicely and I love the little spoons that came with them. One of the lids came cracked, but still usable. I have found that the seals in the lids need to be put in when they are used.

The jar is what the posting says it is. It's a larger-sized sourdough starter fermentation jar that might be just what someone needs. I have serious concerns, however, about the very thin glass from which it is made. It's so thin I feel I have to be very careful just washing it around the rim, for fear it will break off. Shoving the lid into it for sealing feels like it might break the edge of the glass, too. And speaking of that lid, it looks nice, being wood, but the plastic gasket/seal is stapled on and doesn't feel like it will stay attached for very long. And I have no faith it can withstand a drop into the bottom of the sink. I do like the size. It fits on shorter refrigerator shelves than the 24-oz jars do, which is very handy. But because it is wider, it can slip from smaller hands when being moved or washed. I don't think I would buy this again - at least not for the price I paid - but it will be my main sourdough starter container for now.
