    • Compact, but not "portable"
I purchased this scooter from another seller, but I feel compelled to write a review to help others that are considering buying one of these. This is one of the latest Pride models. On paper, it is amazing. It weighs half of what their other portable scooters weigh, and can fold up for easier storage. With that in mind, I bought one with the intention of using it for international travel. The first trial run was a 7-day trip to Japan. By the end of the trip, the following things had happened: - The bar that the tiller bag attaches to was lost by one of the airlines. - The faceplate of the tiller has fallen off. I can press it back on, but it falls off after a while again - One of the stands to store it upright broke off - The brake handle has broken off. So, now it is stuck in Drive Mode and cannot be pushed/pulled while it is turned off. - The handle to move forward broke off. I was able to super-glue it back on, but I don't know how long that will last Personally, the name of this product is misleading. "Super Portable" would imply that it is an ideal traveling scooter. Instead, I would think twice about taking this scooter on an airplane ever again. Which, defeats the entire purpose for which I bought this. If you are only planning on using it for getting around locally, though, this might work fine for you. I mention this also to warn you all as Pride's warranty states that it doesn't cover airline damage, so I'm stuck with a 4-month old scooter that is broken and cost a lot of money. Pros: - Very compact. Takes up about half of the space in my trunk as my other travel scooter - Lightweight. Only weighs about 42lbs - Fast: The top speed moves pretty fast. - Easy to maneuver. I found it easy to steer, even with one hand while dragging a suitcase at the airport with my other hand. Cons: - Not "travel-friendly." It sustained some sort of damage during every trip on a plane, and once on a charter bus. - Some flimsy plastic parts. The tiller's faceplate is attached with what looks like double-sided tape, which I only know because it fell off mid-use - There are only two speeds. The turtle speed is excruciatingly slow, but the hare speed was too fast to safely navigate in crowded areas. - Lightweight means challenges for heavier folk. I am 260lbs and had issues with ramps. The scooter actually tipped over once while I was trying to go up a steep ramp and threw me off a la Christopher Reeve because of all of the weight concentrated on the back. I had a few other close calls, both with incline and declines, but I managed to keep it under control. I won't say to avoid this item at all costs. I would just say to think very carefully on how you plan to use this before you commit to buy. You may not get your money's worth if your lifestyle involves a lot of airplane travel. ... show more
